NC-Sen: Cooper Maintains His Lead
Public Policy Polling (4/8-11, registered voters, 12/8-9 in parens):

Roy Cooper (D): 41 (39)
Richard Burr (R-inc): 37 (34)

Mike McIntyre (D): 34
Richard Burr (R-inc): 39
(MoE: ±3.1%)
PPP seems to be on a quest to test every conceivable Dem against Richard Burr, and this time they threw 7th CD Rep. Mike McIntyre into the mix; despite being unknown to over half the state, McIntyre posts the best performance of any Dem against Burr in PPP's polling other than state Attorney General Roy Cooper. While McIntyre has not expressed any interest in the Senate race, he would bring some regional strength in a hypothetical match-up; in a head-to-head against Burr, he leads the Republican by 48-33 in Southeastern NC, while Burr and Cooper are tied at 40-40 there.

Still, Cooper is undoubtedly our best bet for this race. He sports a solid 41-20 favorable rating (much better than Burr's tepid 35-31 rating), and destroys Burr among moderate voters by a 56-21 margin. For those keeping score, this marks the third poll (of four publicly-released ones) showing Cooper in the lead. Luckily for us, Cooper will make a decision on this race "very soon".

2. I just don't get it.
That Burr clown does absolutely nothing for this state. In fact I've never seen his stupid face since he was elected. Why does he poll so high?

9. 37% is not high, it's abysmally low for an incumbent
The challenger is less known and his poll numbers will go up with name recognition.

5. NC
The thing many are forgetting Is this seat has a habit of flipping between Democrats and Republicans every 6 years for quite some time.Another reason to think Burr may be joining Elizabeth Dole In Retirement come jaunary 2011.

7. We just elected one NEW DEMOCRAT Kay Hagan. I'd like to see us elect an OLD-FASHIONED
PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRAT for a change.

10. I like the fact that she's a Democrat, but do not like her alignment with the likes of
Evan Bayh and his New Dems. Those folks are center right Democrats.

11. This is North Carolina so she may be the best we can get for now.
All I know is she has voted with the party all if not most of the time and that makes this NC dem happy.

12. I agree that she's WAAAAYYY better than Liddy Dole and Burr. But we really need to
come up with some new names and faces who are good, lifelong Democrats who are progressives. They are out there but the party apparatus prefers the middle-of-the-roaders.
