...because the truth in the matter is, not enough American people care what did or didn't happen in Guantanamo and abroad. If there was a nationwide outcry about this, then yes, they would be jailed post haste. But let's face it--too much of the country is so blinded by nationalism and bloodlust that they would see this move ONLY as partisanship, nothing more. Outside of this and other liberal spheres of influence, they simply don't care.

And don't even tell me--oh, we voted for change, so isn't that enough? 53% of the country, the 53% who voted Barack into office--don't they want this to happen? Sadly, it's way less than that. For example. a Gallup poll from February had a criminal investigation for the bushies at only 38%. 24% merely wanted an "investigation," which I believe is ongoing. The rest want neither.

And I honestly haven't seen better numbers than this. I've been wanting to talk about this for a while, although I knew it would be unpopular. But there it is--Obama IS listening to the people. It's the people who are being apathetic--the only thing Obama is guilty of is not doing something that would be immensely unpopular. He's guilty of not wanting to burn up all his political capital within his first 100 days in office.

In a way, it's the American people that deserve to be yelled at.

1. The oath is to the Constitution, not to what's popular.
I voted for President Obama. I'd vote for him again, tomorrow. But, if he fails to prosecute the torture done in your and my names, he gets no pass from me on that. I WILL be watching. I'm NOT apathetic, and the people's "apathy" is no excuse.

7. I think Turley put it very succinctly on Maddow's show last nite
refusing to prosecute know crimes amounts to obstruction

Consider how Mukasey sat on this particular report involving 'collusion' between the WH and legal staff to obtain 'legal recommendations' for things that wanted to have 'recommendations' and approval for:

2. So freedom is up for a vote?
Most people are clueless to what happened. If they were informed, the numbers would be different.

3. I Agree - Many People Are Concerned Whether They'll Be Able To Put.....
food on the table or make their next house payment. Why should they care about prosecuting BushCo. They have to worry about themselves. If I had a tinfoil hat on right now - I'd say that BushCo put us in this economic crisis to make sure that many American's would have something closer to home to worry about than prosecuting BushCo for torture and war crimes.

Really BushCo did so much damage to this country - I really wonder if we'll ever climb out of it.

5. Freedom wasn't a priority to the Germans in the 30's either.
We are them in the 21st century.
