You're never ever going to have a President that you agree with all the time
unless, of course, YOU run for President yourself.

You might never even have a President you agree with MOST of the time.

But, it's a damn sight better than having a President you NEVER agree with.

Even if you're upset about the bank bailouts and wiretapping and no torture prosecutions, there's always Supreme Court justice nominations, stem cell reversals and the resurrection of responsible diplomacy to help ease your anger.

I hate to sound trite, but half a loaf is better than none.

(and I'm not implying you need to stop yelling about the other half. You should keep at it, because this is a President who will actually listen to you.)

1. I just want him to go after the "bad guys". Because they were really bad.
And if he doesn't, then future bad guys will be worse.

4. I'm not asking for such. I'm asking for my government to work as it
was designed to work for 200+ years and be a Constitutional based one. Elective despotism where the President decides everything is not what I want whether I agree with one a little or a lot.

6. Then you should at least admit that government has never worked
as you interpret it was designed, there were never any good old days, and that you have given Obama quite a tall order that involves transforming ideals into reality. No simple task.

7. That is why I loved the Bill Clinton years so much.
Yeah. He had some major policy faults, DOMA, DMCA, and others...

But he, like Obama, is a competent President that will listen to you.

9. That attitude is dismissive and obnoxious
people have every right to disagree with the President, even be furious with him at times.

Yeah, probably not.

17. True. And I never expect him to do so.
I know that my views on most matters are to the left of 75% of Americans. That means no president is ever going to agree with me much of the time. He can't.

18. There have been racists, slave-owners, and anti-semites as President.
If Obama's failing because you don't agree with him on everything, then the other guys must have been like Darth Vadars.

19. Great Post.
I liked this part the best "...there's always Supreme Court justice nominations...". THAT is what I'm most concerned about and that decision is in Democratic Hands at a crucial moment in history so. Yeah.

20. I had to K&R this post. Thank you. I do wish folks would take action, tho, rather than yell
so much in here. Sometimes it just makes me feel tired and depressed.

I'd rather see a call to action on an issue than 10 folks screaming about it all the time. Obama is neither God nor Satan. He's not perfect. He can't do everything - he's only human. He will disagree with us on occasion. He's not the most evil thing that's happened since Cain supposedly killed Abel.

And I don't know what will happen to my brain if I read one more of those posts that say he was put in power by (insert conspiracy theory here) and that nothing we do matters because the entire world is controlled by (insert conspiracy theory here).

For chrissake, we're democrats. We're ACTIVE democrats. WTF are people who believe that we have no control DOING here?
