GOP's - Obama covered Jesus' name when he spoke at GU - horror follows!!!
The CNS and FOX NEWS reported that President (Commie in Chief) Obama's Government had the Catholics at George Washington University cover up Jesus' name before he would consent to speak there, causing even more hatred of the President by right-thinking Americans.
What really happened:
White house staffers asked that the area behund the podium where the President was scheduled to speak on the economy be concealed so that a simple cloth backdrop along with several American flags could be placed there to create a simple background for the cameras covering the event.
The symbol consisted of a stylized cross and the letters IHS, which the media insists "means" Jesus Christ.

All us good ol' Catholic School students know the symbl stands for the Latin "In Hoc Signes", meaning "in this sign", referring to the cross, and supposedly to Constantine who had his soldiers paint their shields with crosses, telling then,"In this sign shall you conquer."

Of course, evev catholic reporters, who should klnow better, now say this is another indication that President Obama is a Muslim, hates jesus, hates religion in general, and had his "thugs" force the poor catholics at Georgetown to cover up their symbols.

FWIW, my sister and I both said that the IHS stood for I Hate School - the true value of a Catholic education.
I knew it would pay off someday.
These people are waging a deliberate campaign against our President and our country.
They are anti American.

1. Pres.Obama should stop going to all these "church" schools
Edited on Sat Apr-18-09 07:17 AM by SoCalDem
There are certainly many schools that are non-denomination/public colleges/universities, and I'm sure many/most would LOVE to have him speak.

These touchy, edgy religious schools can stick to inviting their preacher-folk/inspirational speakers..

Every time P.Obama accepts an offer from one of "those" schools, there's nothing but "faux-controversy", and an general uproar created by the whole thing..

I see no reason to give the right-wing nutcases any more "ammuntion" than they have already stockpiled..

2. IHS does have the meaning being puported by "the media"
It has been generally regarded to be a monogram of the name of Jesus Christ. That does not however have anything to do with the fac tthere was no "cover up" by the Obama team and this issue os being hijacked to derive a new angle to bash him.

4. If there is such meaning it is not correct.
Edited on Sat Apr-18-09 08:18 AM by old mark
The complete phrase in Latin is, " In Hoc Signo Vinces", loosely "in this sign you ahall conquer". This was translated from the Greek, and supposedly spoken by Constantine the Great after he saw a vision of the Greek Chi Rho in the sky, and adopted the Greek cross as his symbol. His side won.

The later efforts to equate this with the name of jesus are not correct, in fact there are even more recent translations of the symbol into English, with silly results.
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

3. Clearly, the 'faith community' is returning all of the
support the President has given them. It is good to see that McClurking and Warren and the Office of Faith Based Discrimination is paying off for the President in the form of strong and honest support from people of faith!

5. Bring it on
As long as O shows some sort of progress all of these attacks simply demonstrate the basic dishonesty and intellectual bankruptcy of the FAUX/right factions.

If ALL they do is cry wolf, people will stop listening.

Of course, that is when these people DO become dangerous, like McVeigh and others.

I was happy to read the earlier post about how the feds now had pictures of almost all the right-wing wingnuts who came out for the teabagging.

Oh, you don't think OUR government would do something like that? Spy on our own citizens gathered for legal, constitutional protest?

Really? :sarcasm:
