Fox News - Last Weeks' Rise In The DOW Was Due To Tea Parties - Tea Party Rally
Edited on Sat Apr-18-09 07:57 PM by Median Democrat
I guess we now have a way to explain away any increases in the DOW. When the DOW falls, its the Obama bear market. When the DOW rises, its a tea party rally. Now, rince and repeat 1000 times, and maybe the Republicans will win back Congress in 2010. My take is why don't we just simply declare Rupert Murdoch president already?

Six weeks after saying that "some are calling" the Dow Jones industrial average's then-downward trend President Obama's "bear market," and asking, "Is it?" host Brenda Buttner introduced the April 18 edition of Fox News' Bulls & Bears by saying: "Call it a tea party rally. Wall Street's sure partying, up six weeks in a row. The bulls came out about the same time these guys started to shout, saying no to big government, big taxes, and big bailouts. Will that keep investors saying yes to stocks?" Buttner went on to ask the show's panel: "After months on its back, the market comes back the same time Americans fight back against big government. Is that a coincidence?" During the segment, Fox News on-screen text read: "Stocks Rally As 'Tea Party' Rallies Take Nation By Storm" and "Stocks Rally As 'Tea Parties' Catch Fire; Coincidence?" Buttner was not alone in suggesting that Obama was responsible for the stock market's poor performance even though the Dow Jones average was on a downward trajectory months before his inauguration; indeed, several of Buttner's Fox News colleagues referred to an "Obama bear market" in early March.

2. Actually that may be true
Once the markets saw how pitiful the opposition was to Obama's economic programs, they collectively breathed a sigh of relief and began to buy.

22. I've worked for three Wall Street firms and it was sort of a running joke....
about what........... CAUSED.........the market to do whatever it happened to do on any certain day.

I recall when I was a young punk rookie at Bache my mentor told me to wait for a market closing statement that came over the wire before going home. The firm's top PR guy, analyst, Larry Wachtel, would tell ...why the market might have done whatever it did that day. That way if/when someone that night at a party or a bar or your neighbor asked why the market was up or down.... you had some plausible explanation.

Of course the only real cause/effect on market movement was more buying or more selling.

Now whenever I hear a guy saying.....why the market did whatever...he's just a pr schmuck

3. Puh-leeze. These people are so self-inflated. It amazes me what a bunch of
vacuous windbags on Fox can imagine about themselves and their so called "movement". I've seen bigger movements in a toilet bowl, fer chrissake!

4. Extremely vacuous...
even with hannity, oreilly and the rest, the one that bugs me the most is Gretchen Carlson-- everything about her makes me cringe.

11. Sadly, There Is A Segment Of The Population Who Accept Fox's "News" As The Gospel Truth
Can you imagine having a perspective where Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck's rants are the "truth"? Where time and space don't exist, because President Obama somehow cause the recession, which began in December 2007? Where political definitions lose meaning, so an oxymoron like "liberal facist" actually makes sense? Yet, millions of Fox viewers do live in that alternate reality.

23. except where the weather was nasty...therefore, in those places,
Obama's fascist-ray-feminist-talks-to-commies-socialism-anti-gun gun woke the Prince of Darkness who somehow overcame Gawd's true might and foiled the bagging, but didn't foil their spirits, as inflamed by jaysus as they are.

they might try Preparation H for that inflammation....
