much in investments in Health Care, Energy and Education.

First of all, he said that Bush had spent massive amounts of $$$, piled up debt and raised the deficit over the past eight years and we have got nothing to show for it - no new health care, no new development of energy, no improvement in education and a less secure Middle East.

Obama plans to invest in all of those so that we will have a great deal to show for it when he is done then ---

Ford gave the GI Bill as an example of the US Government spending large amounts of $$$ as an investment in the future which paid off in the long run.

I love that example for when people complain about Obama's spending when he always frames as an investment in our long-term goals for the future.

1. Watching it now
I agree. Ford is doing a great job today, and I don't usually like him. He's also the only one I've heard the morning who asked where all the teabaggers were during the Bush years when Bush spent too much.

3. It was surprising but it's true. We should give kudos when they are deserved.

4. He can be very good
He's often frustrating, but I've seen him hit the nail on the head a few times before. He's articulate and smart and when he knows how to make a point.

6. Yeah, I tried that GI Bill argument with a RWer.
Apparently only people who have joined the armed forces should be given any financial help. Even if all you did was mop floors for a four years in the reserves, you should get financial help from the gov't. But if you want to feed poor kids a nutritional breakfast or do stem-cell research - no money for you! :eyes:

Of course I'm in TN and saw that whole Corker/racist campaign thing happen first hand. It hit WAY too close to home if you get my drift.

He SHOULD be a martyr of sorts ..... a member of the "big tent" Democratic party who COULD have won a seat in the Senate had he not been the victim of the South's great unspoken plague. He's lucky if you think about it. Harold only lost an election.

Emmit Till lost his life.

Next time you all see Senator Corker flappin his racist, anti-Union trap on TV, think of Harold ... and cut him some slack. ;)

for all the republicans whining about unemployment, food stamps and social security.... imagine where we would be RIGHT NOW without those things along with the FDIC!!! all those socialist government programs are what have kept us from complete collapse at least partially. i hope folks realize that.
