A General was touring a secret interrogation site. He paused to watch the procedure as Khalil Sheikh Mohammed was being tied down for his fifth water-boarding of the day. The General observed that the Army had found that the technique was good for torture but lousy for getting information.
"With all respect General, the Army was mistaken on that," said the lead interrogator. "This method gets us the answers to any question. Give us any question to ask him and you'll see how well it works."
The General, annoyed by the superior tone of the civilian interrogator, replied sarcastically, "Any question? Okay, ask him who wrote Charlotte's Web. I'll bet he doesn't know that one."
He then turned and left, shaking his head.
A half-hour later the general was sitting down for a bite to eat with the base commander when the interrogator ran in, soaked to the skin but beaming with pride.
"Sorry to interrupt, General. It took some doing but KSM eventually gave up the information you wanted. He wrote Charlotte's Web and Abu Zubaydah helped with the pictures."
