Obama took this oath of 1/20/09

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Effing D'uh.

He would be violating the oath of his office if he were to declare all investigations and charges off limits for a select group of people based on some indulgent desire to move on and focus on the future.

The Repukes impeached Bill Clinton for so called "obstruction of justice". These same Repukes are now scorching the earth because Obama said he will not carry on Bush-style obstruction of justice and stand in the way of criminal investigations into the torture labs that administration created.

Is the effing President supposed to PRESERVE, PROTECT, and DEFEND the Constitution or what?

Cheney is effing going down.

I'm guessing there's about to be a lot of shit hitting the fan and being revealed regarding the "War on teh Terra"- the pretext for it and the administration of it.

Let's Go.

1. Whose back does he have?
I'm curious, when he told the CIA that he "had their backs", exactly who was he offering to protect from what?

5. No orders here
These were civilians. There are no "orders", there are only directions/instructions. I'm not sure where the president gets the authority to protect people from the consequences of their own actions. If they tortured people, they are guilty.

6. OK, direction from their bosses. Better? It's a federal agency.
I think the president can do pretty much what he wants.

7. George would agree
However, the oath does say "preserve, protect, and defend" and all that. I think he is pretty much duty bound to allow and cooperate in the prosecution of these folks.

3. Oh no people are happy that something is going well in Washington!
This conflicts with the First Law of Blogotics: "No blogger may through deliberate action cause, or through failure to act allow, a person to be pleased with something that has happened in government."
