FRAME: Let's demand all those GOP politicians give up their government-run healthcare packages
Edited on Wed Apr-22-09 11:23 AM by zulchzulu
It's time to hit these people broadside and show that the same people who are/will be complaining about "government-run healthcare programs" ARE GETTING HEALTHCARE FROM GOVERNMENT-RUN PROGRAMS!

They are saying we can't have "socialized healthcare" while THEY ARE!

It's a simple frame... and the truth.

Anytime these people call for not having "socialized healthcare" or "European-style" healthcare, they need to say they are giving up the healthcare benefits they themselves have for themselves and their family.

Give up your "socialized healthcare" benefits, Republican senators and congress people if you don't want it.

I think an ad is needed from the Democratic Party.

On edit:
The Federal Employees Health Benefits Program:
http://www.opm.gov/INSURE/HEALTH/

That's right... government-run healthcare!

Better yet, put them in a corner and have them demand that the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program be abolished and take away the healthcare program for millions of people who work for the government. Let's see them take the bait and further implode.

2. Their healthcare is 100% paid by tax dollars--even if it's out of their paycheck
which is also paid by tax dollars.

3. A good point to bring up to the Teabag-heads
Imagine their expression on their faces when they hear that their precious Right Wing Theocratic Party of No Asshat Senator is getting SOCIALIST healthcare for free!

5. Yeah, I've wondered why they've never been hit over that...
It's a short argument and easy to understand. It seems like political gold.

6. In fact, I thought that's where Obama was going during the campaign...
He kept mentioning how everyone deserves a health insurance plan at least as good as the one he gets.

7. Great idea!!! "Lead by example"
K & R!!!

I've wondered the EXACT same thing for the longest time and have wondered why NOBODY ever really mentioned this. I've never understood why they would even WANT to accept federal health insurance coverage when they are constantly extolling the virtues of the private health insurance industry and its supposed superiority over the "socialized" health systems of other countries. If they oppose "socialized" health care then they should immediately drop their federal health plan and buy into a private plan. With the money we save from them dropping their taxpayer-financed "gold plated" federal health plans we can put the money into new taxpayer-financed plans that cover and help provide health care for those of us who WANT "socialized medicine."
