Hey, Mainstream Media, call it what it is: TORTURE.
I get sick of reading M$M story after M$M story describing water boarding as a 'harsh interrogation technique' instead of what it is: torture. Calling it anything BUT torture allows politicians to try and justify it without sounding like complete pigs. If you want any credibility, M$M, call it torture and make scumbags like Lieberman and Limbaugh go on the record supporting torture. At least get these scumbags to be honest about their love for torture, it'll be sickening but at the same time refreshing.

Of course, to expect anything less of the Corporate Media is foolish. But I can always hope that some day they'll wake up and actually be effective at something other than shilling for their masters. Also, if I have to listen to right-wing morons bloviate about the 'liberal' media one more time, my head is going to implode. Yes, implode. It's that bad.

2. I heard another good spinorism from Lou Dobbs...
"Terrorist surveillance program" instead of "Warrantless wiretapping."

The GOP-controlled corporate propaganda machine is softening us up, trying to break down public opinion.

4. It's taking advantage of ignorance and intellectual laziness.
Yet another fetid gift from Reagan: the murder of the fourth estate.

7. What do you consider the difference between an aggressive interrogation and torture?
Where exactly is the line drawn? I don't support torture at all, but the line needs to be drawn somewhere.

9. OK, then. I agree with you.
But what methods of interrogation would you deem permissible?

11. of course, the usual distinction is this:
When *I* do it, it's "enhanced" or "aggressive" interrogation.

When my enemy does it, it's torture.

Which is why these euphemisms must be quashed - a distinction without a difference is immensely powerful politically

10. I'm OK with their calling it "enhanced interrogation methods..."
provided they follow up by pointing out that's what the Nazis called torture, too

12. I agree. Gibbs should call it torture, too
It was reported recently that Gibbs used the "enhanced interrogation" euphemism. I can't recall one time that he has called these actions torture.

14. either the Media hasn't read the Memos and Senate Armed Services Comm Report or they have and
just ignore it to draw attention away from the issue of torture.

What Media's treatment (lack of treatment) of the substance in those documents makes it clear (CRYSTAL CLEAR) that the cable (with rare exceptions) and network news outlets have been co-opted.

15. Even if you feel MSM is helping... don't.. because they're not.
It most likely will be used later (whatever it is) to make a point or something.

16. I like the 'enhanced techniques'...
phrase. Regardless of how ridiculous the newsies sound, they really are very good at managing perception.
