Men's PGA dress code - NO SHORTS. LPGA Women allow shorts and PGA allow caddies to wear shorts, but not the players. What's up with that? I mean, like, I can understand no cutoff, but hemmed shorts?

That's a term used to describe people, mostly media people, who are very enamored with high profile athletes.

I'm typically not this dense. Obama is a little like what Jon Stewart joked about. "When I'm president, I'm going to have my favorite band play (Stevie Wonder visited), and my favorite baseball team (the White Sox were in town), etc. I love that Obama has some personality and can balance his life. Still, some of these visits are random.

results in random meetings with important cultural icons. Look at who the Queen meets with, for example.

Tiger's only the most famous sports person in the whole world. He also happens to be the only guy on the PGA Tour (not counting the mini-tours) who has any African-American blood in him. The PGA Tour loves him because they have an excuse for the fact that the Tour is actually less diverse today than when it was first integrated in the 1960's and 1970's.

and I think there's a pretty strong argument that Tiger is now more famous than Jordan at the moment. Jordan at his peak was more famous that Tiger though, for sure.

Muhammed Ali at his peak was more famous than Tiger and he's still very famous but, like MJ, he is retired.

You do realize Tiger has been all over the world playing his sport, right? That includes the likes of China and the Middle East, where they couldn't give a flying fuck about Barry Bonds or MLB. Japan is big on baseball and I'm sure they know who Bonds is, but then again they have plenty of reason to follow MLB with Ichiro and other Japanese MLB superstars representing their country.

it's even more of a right wing white guy's club.

A Woods seems to be okay with that, just as he's okay with the PGA holding tournaments at clubs that prohibit women as members.

Oh, and it's a sore spot among black women his wife is a white supermodel.

We will add this to the long, LONG list of things of which you have no clue what the hell you are talking about.

Since you are so adept at deciphering what black women "think" about things, why don't you tell me what I'm thinking about YOU right now??

And btw Cap'n, what is Tiger Wood's wife's name?? No, I don't know it either. So how the hell does that make her a supermodel if no one knows who the hell she is beyond being "Tiger Wood's wife?"

Tiger has never said anything political nor has he ever donated any money as far as I know. Most PGA Tour members are Republicans. I would think Tiger is a moderate, probably fiscally conservative (I've heard he is very stingy with his money) but socially more liberal...which makes sense seeing as he's dealt with discrimination in his life.

66. Here ya go:
Donated to Obama:

http://fundrace.huffingtonpost.com/neighbors.php?type=name&lname=Duval&fname=David

Q: Speaking of different on the PGA Tour: Are you a registered Democrat?
A: I am. But it's not like I think along strict party lines. Before Alito was confirmed for the Supreme Court last winter, I was watching TV one day and saw the Senate vote on the streamer at the bottom of the screen. I want to say four Democrats voted for him, and the rest against, while maybe one Republican voted against him and the rest for. Strictly politicized. Is that right? The only people who thought he belonged on the highest court in the land were Republicans?

Are the people who run this country voting with their conscience, or are they doing what they have to do to get re-elected or stay in good standing with their party? It's a joke. In a perfect world, starting with the president, you would think our country's leaders would stand for what's right regardless of what side of the political fence that's on.

Q: Why are all the other golfers on tour Republicans?
A: If they all are, I don't know why. I suppose the safe guess would be because of tax issues. With Republicans in charge, the conventional wisdom is that taxes will be lower. With Democrats in office, taxes will be higher.

Q: Did you vote for John Kerry in the last presidential election?
A: I did. But I think I'm like a lot of people in the country. I am socially a Democrat, in that I want all the social programs and health care to be what they should be. But I am fiscally a Republican, because I want to pay as little as I can in taxes. My choice was, would I rather pay 38 percent or whatever it is to have a Republican in the White House? Or would I rather pay 40 or 42 percent with a Democrat as president and feel like social programs were looked after properly? My choice was, I'd rather pay more.

Q: Would you vote for Hillary Clinton in 2008?
A: I don't know. I'd have to look at all the issues. If she were running against John McCain, I'd probably vote for McCain. So, there you go. Like I said before, I'm not strictly for either party. I lean toward what I think is best for the country.

54. Toby Keith is a registered Democrat...
and voted for Obama if I remember right. He has a very shallow view of patriotism and is consequently a war-monger.

56. Well, that's surprising, but then just imagine a Republican who acts like him.

58. Oh, you mean a RINO...
You know the current Rethug meme about Specter, Snowe, and Collins because they voted for the stimulus package: "they're RINO's...throw 'em out of the party!"

55. Speaking of actors...
Jon Cryer from Two and a Half Men is a Republican. Hilarious too because he plays a character that is pretty much the opposite of a faux-macho Rethug. Bruce Willis is a Libertarian and has of course been in some of the best movies of the last 2 decades.

70. Bruce Willis is a Democrat. Or at least that's how he terms himself.
Cryer has only made donations to Obama, or so his online records show.

71. Willis quote...
"I'm a Republican only as far as I want a smaller government"

Sounds like a Libertarian to me. For years people thought he was a Republican but he has said he doesn't consider himself a member of either major party.

http://www.deadlinehollywooddaily.com/bruce-willis-not-a-diehard-republican/

As for Cryer, this conflicts with what you've found online about his donations:

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/aug/22/hollywood-conservatives-to-rally-for-mccain/

Variety said Cryer helped throw a fundraiser along with other celebrity Republicans for McCain in August 2008. Are you sure you were looking at the right Jon Cryer? You could have been looking at some random person named Jon Cryer who donated to Obama.

73. 'I'm A Democrat', Insists Willis.
'I'm A Democrat', Insists Willis.

BRUCE WILLIS has dismissed his "Hollywood Republican" reputation, insisting his political beliefs go far deeper.

Confusion over the movie hardman's politics was sparked when he reportedly backed the war in Iraq, and even made an appearance with US President GEORGE W BUSH at the White House.

But now he's keen to be seen as a staunch Democrat, according to the New York Daily News.

He says, "I'm always being accused of being a Hollywood Republican - but I'm not! "I have just as many Democratic ideas as Republican ones. If they could build three fewer bombs every month and give the money to foster care, that would be great."

77. That's a bullshit headline and you know it...
He said he has just as many Democratic ideas as Republican ideas. Nowhere does he call himself a Democrat. Like I said before, he doesn't associate himself with either major party...which is demonstrated by the quote in the link you provided (that same quote is also in the link I provided above).

79. And it's not an actual quote...
If you notice, the article has the headline posted twice and makes it look like the headline is actually the first sentence of the article. But if that's the first sentence, it's poor journalism to refer to his last name before referring to his full name, and then to turn around in the very next sentence and refer to his full name. That headline is made up and inferred by the "journalist." Willis himself didn't actually say, "I'm a Democrat." He said he has Democratic and Republican ideas. And he's admitted to being in favor of smaller government. He's probably more of a Ron Paul style Libertarian than anything else: doesn't support the nutjob neocon foreign policy but would prefer a smaller government altogether.

75. Here are Cryer's campaign contributions. I have no idea. He did donate to McCain...and Obama?
But then got the money back from Obama?

I have no idea...

You're right though, he's a McCainiac. I must have confused him with someone else.

he was doing some pretty shady stuff with his donations. Must have somehow written off the Obama donation on his taxes.
