Breaking: First Dog Is "Crazy," Says First Lady
Breaking First Dog update: Bo is "crazy," Michelle Obama told a group of children assembled at the White House this morning as part of the annual take-your-children-to-work day.

She revealed that the newly acquired, world-famous puppy "likes to chew on people's feet" and cause commotions. "Oh, he is a crazy dog," she confirmed.

Bo even disturbed the repose of the president and his wife to the degree that they thought someone was outside their bedroom. "It was just Bo. He was playing with his ball."

The mom-in-chief fielded several questions from the kids in the East Room, 160 in all, ranging in age from 7 to 14, reports our colleague Rich Leiby. It was open to children whose parents work in all levels at the White House, including Secret Service and household staff. Vice President Joe Biden's granddaughter Maisy participated in the event.

Heh!! He's just being a puppy. You can tell they haven't had a dog before, but I bet they love him.

4. It takes a while for the first dog. I love my baby dog now but I
cried one night and asked my husband to take him back when he pee'd on my shoes. I thought the dog was crazy! Now, we are best friends. I would die if something happened to this dog.

5. Could he be teething?
Perhaps his back molars are coming in....

Dogs like feet because the smell of sweat makes them identify with their master. I have had many dogs who pulled my dirty volleyball socks out of the laundry and chew holes in them. They thought this was really good fun!

Bridget, a really good playful tease, often opted for my underwear instead. Once she managed to hook a pair out of the laundry, she would run to me, wave the underwear in my face, and take off running. She knew I would chase after her to retrieve the item, and there was nothing that made her happier. She knew I could not catch her...she was just that fast.

7. Great, Mrs. Obama way to put your foot in your mouth.
Now the republicans will spend millions trying to determine if the dog is fit to serve as presidential mascot. :+

8. "Psycho puppy syndrome" - they chew, they play, they run around
in circles, they attack inanimate objects.

Bo needs LOTS of exercise and some safe chew toys. He'll be fine.

She hides there then nips at my feet as I pass by... so cute! Kinda freaked me out the first time though!

11. Oh, Molly is adorable!
Takes a couple of years to get beyond the "puppy stage" as I learned with my sweetheart Cammy-dog, but the 13 years of joy, companionship and unconditional love she gave me was worth the wait. I shall never stop missing her!

Molly has "strokeable ears" (a real stress reliever I found). Give her a special "ear stroke" for me!

Blessings.

14. Will do, classof56!
:hi:

Her ears are like velvet... so are her nose, tongue, and the pads on her dainty little feet!

I picked her up off a rush hour traffic filled street... scared, dirty, dehydrated. No one claimed her, so she's mine now:)

19. Michigan will always be my home, too.
Just curious about your profile, given your dog scenario. Hope you don't mind. Looking forward to retiring to Traverse City in a few years (not soon enough!). Spent almost my whole life there until moving to the DC area in 2006.

My dogs are getting old. The little one in the middle is 16, the one on the bottom is 13. Enjoy your youngster!

20. Hold tight, Mrs. Obama
My stepmom had a terrier who was the same way. It took YEARS to get that dog to not pounce on people at the front door or nip at ankles. She also liked chasing flies and running into the wall by accident. She also liked to run around and bounce off couches with various fun toys in her mouth.

Get a camera ready because there will be plenty of youtube moments.

21. Cesar, the Dog Whisperer, on Larry King, gave a mild warning about that breed....
He said that along w/all the great reasons to get the dog (and it does seem to have a near perfect match to the kind of dog they needed), he said not to forget, that the First Family should be aware that that breed is a SPORTING dog and is intelilgent and high energy and would require daily exercise and something to keep his mind occupied. (Cesar-speak for a high maintenance dog...far from a gentle lap dog.)

I know what he means. I have two high energy dogs myself. They are like little clowns. Not hyper at all, but high energy and smart. They require exercise and intelligent games to challenge them, or they become destructive nuisances!

27. I would love to see the Bo 'Bama episode of the Dog Whisperer...
...though a little puppy rambunctiousness hardly qualifies as an emergency.

But what an example for dog owners everywhere, if our first family could come together with Cesar to make some Change.
