The best thing about HRC losing to Obama
We have the most kick ass SOS. I am so proud of Hillary and I think she will continue to do great things for our country and restore our credibility around the world.

6. I don't think she is just standing there taking orders. He doesn't want any "yes men/women."
She has plenty of foreign policy gravitas all on her own. He wouldn't have tapped her for SOS if she didn't...(and yes, I am totally aware of the politics of it all).

No, she really doesn't -- that's what the special envoys have -- but it was a politically astute appointment on Pres. Obama's part,
which is turning out the way I expected: she is following the President's lead, as every Cabinet official must.

As POTUS and the promulgator of the popular Obama Doctrine, he definitely has "foreign policy gravitas" than Hillary in the eyes of the world.

23. Also true, but
My point is that while most of the Hillary bashing has subsided, the obama bash continues at break neck speed powered by what seems to be the anger of those who supported his primary challenger.

In short, i think both Hillary and Obama deserve our respect, patience and support.

21. I've been trying to ignore the two at the top of the thread,
but they are downright annoying. Their constant disingenuous attempts to belittle Hillary are offensive. The woman is one of the smartest persons in any room. They act as if Obama is holding her down with a foot to her neck, they obviously don't know her. Hillary doesn't do anything that she doesn't want to do. If she and Obama were not in sync she wouldn't have taken the job in the first place. It is obvious that they have a good working relationship, to the chagrin of some.

43. It's not crapping on anything if it's true. Hillary Clinton was not the most
qualified choice to be Secretary of State. She'd never held any diplomatic posts and never negotiated anything, which should have been the very minimum requirement for such a post. When she kept talking about her "experience" during the campaign, she was talking about her time as First Lady, which was an absurd claim to make—she confused proximity to power with work experience. There were a number of other prospective candidates for the post who were eminently more qualified.

I'm not speaking out of partisanship or like or dislike of her personally. I'm just stating an objective fact.

Now, before you paint me as a hate-spewing, hate-filled, hate monster seething with hate, let me say: I think it's too soon to judge how effective Clinton has been as Secretary of State, but early indications seem to suggest she's doing an okay job so far.

Here's what I said yesterday:

"I'm sure Hillary has some input, as all Cabinet officials do, but there's no doubt who's directing the foreign policy of this nation via the Obama Doctrine."

Notice that the time stamp puts my comment as happening before yours. You need to stop bashing me and start telling the truth about my views on Hillary, which are not quite as unquestioningly adoring as those who are attacking me on this thread but are nonetheless quite valid in their own right.

I voted for Obama, but have always been a huge fan of Bill/Hillary for years. We have two superstars confident in their abilities and not keen to step on each other toes.

That being said, the title of this thread is bound to cause another primary spat. Consider renaming it. :)

The ones who stay true to themselves, even if you disagree with them, are always marginalized by the power brokers behind the scenes. I don't agree with Ron Paul on a whole host of issues, but he has more principle in his pinky finger than these hypocritical neo-cons that are running the Rethug Party and yet he's the one who is labeled "crazy" and turned into an irrelevant politician. He's always been against big spending and has never stood down from that stance. He's always been against the Federal Reserve and has never stood down...and it turns out the Fed has helped create this financial crisis, so Ron Paul has more credibility on that issue than people who shrug off the idea that the Fed is bad for our country. He's also been against interventionist foreign policy and yet he's been marginalized by the Rethugs for that one (and he turned out right on it as well...look at Iraq or Vietnam). He's stood by his principles while all the other Rethugs claim to be against big spending when they supported Bush's insane spending and still support his disastrous foreign policy as well as the idea that the Federal Reserve is a good thing.

On the left we have Dennis Kucinich among others who have been marginalized but who have always stood firm by their principles instead of giving in to what the party power brokers behind the scenes want. Dennis would not pander to the military industrial complex or financial power brokers like Obama and Clinton have been known to do.

It appears that according to polls he's the most polarizing president in recent history. He's extremely popular with Democrats, less so with Independents and not at all with Republicans.

I don't remember the poll, but it was posted here somewhere.

Regardless, the "polarizing" meme was crap when used against Hillary and it's so when used against Obama. Don't fall for the Repug's talking points.

58. Mine came
directly from the Pew website. There may be a wider gap, but the numbers of Republicans that approved of Clinton are nearly identical to Obama's.

I don't come to the same conclusions as that article, I think there's a growing number of Republicans that have jumped ship and are now Independents.

I'm willing to bet that any Democrat would have similar numbers, I'm just glad we won. Period.

65. yeah
no doubt... she's fantastic. I like her a lot. She has a stronger will and constitution (read "balls") than most of her male contemporaries.

I hope she has something planned for the future...

69. Me, too. She's doing a great job. I knew she'd be a team player, but I had no idea...
she'd make it SOOOOO clear to the detractors that they wouldn't find a conquer-and-divide advantage in Clinton-Obama.

They are a great team!

74. She makes a great SOS. She would have made a great president too.
There should be no compunction about stating that rather obvious fact.
