Watch-out Joe the Plumber - you're about to be dumped for Carrie the Bigoted Beauty Queen

Miss California: Queen of the GOP

Miss California may have lost her shot at becoming Miss USA after expressing her opposition to same-sex marriage but she’s nevertheless emerged as a star.

After getting booed by the beauty pageant crowd and berated by one of the contest judges Sunday, Carrie Prejean is suddenly a conservative sensation, a poster girl for the right who has bloggers, talk show hosts and Republican pols singing her praises.

Prejean’s beauty contest saga began Sunday when competition judge and openly gay blogger Perez Hilton asked her if she supports gay marriage.

“We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman,” she responded during the televised event. “No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised."

Her response wasn’t exactly what Hilton—or the crowd—was expecting. Prejean ultimately finished as the first runner-up in the competition to Miss North Carolina, who drew a less combustible question about taxpayer bailouts. In an interview the next day with NBC “Today Show” host Matt Lauer, Prejean said she knew she wasn’t going to win the moment she answered.

<<<<snip>>>>>>

An Alabama state legislator introduced a House resolution praising her for speaking out against gay marriage. In a press release, Family Research Council President Tony Perkins stated his “admiration and support” for her and lauded “her fortitude in the face of continued baseless personal attacks.”

“There’s a lot of people cheering you tonight that you stood on your principles, that you put the principles above winning,” Fox News talk show host Sean Hannity told Prejean when she appeared on his television program. “Not enough people do that. And I admire you a lot for it.”

In the right-wing blogosphere, where the consensus was that her opposition to gay marriage cost her the Miss USA title, conservatives depicted Prejean as a role model worth emulating.

“Miss California Carrie Prejean’s act of courage - in the face of tremendous pressure to spout the liberal line - serves as a fine example for young and more seasoned conservative politicians,” wrote Mark Impomeni on the popular RedState blog. “First be true to your beliefs, and let the chips fall where they may. When they do, they should know that conservatives of like mind across the country will stand up for them.”

“I would like to nominate Miss California as the new face of the marriage movement. Much better than mine!” wrote National Organization for Marriage President Maggie Gallagher on National Review’s The Corner.

14. Breeding
"Perhaps we could sneak some hormones in their water and, uh, inhibit some normal processes?"

An idea I have been pushing for years, but for all humans.
I'm thinking something that can be aerosolized & introduced into the entire population.
Only those that can pass a basic IQ & personality test are then allowed to breed.

Before everyone starts crying about human rights, a human should know better than to breed indiscriminately.
To breed unchecked is not a human right but an animal right, as the beasts of the fields know no better.
So are you a higher primate or a chattering chimp.

Yes yes I'm slightly misanthropic.

Peace
Kevin~

25. Intervention
The human species is long past overpopulated, time for some intervention.
Besides natural disasters always effect the least amongst you, not necessarily the worst amongst you.
Your good mother is far too indiscriminate & slow.

Just imagine, too greedy no offspring, too stupid no offspring, too religiously crazy no offspring,
ahh this rock would be a much nicer place.

Ok, ok a beast can dream can't he.

Peace
Kevin~

in Palm Beach Gardens. Go to www.pbpost.com and read Jose Lambiet's column. Seems a man wrote a private e-mail to Perez berating him, unfortunately referred to him as a "little fag" and Hilton published the letter on his blog. Now the guy who wrote the letter is up in arms, wants to sue, etc. Hilton is hated down here...

I have more gay friends that I can shake a stick at and most think that he's a joke.

The girl is a ditz, but she had a right to her opinion without Perez going on a rant and calling her a B****. He only ended up garnering support for the girl. Now she's more famous than the actual winner.

Two of my good friends have been a couple for far longer than some of my straight friends. They always make a point of taking me out on the day of my birthday and this past Monday was no exception. We always have a great time. They are witty, well educated, smart and a lot of fun to be around (they also come in handy when I need something heavy to be moved around the house).

I love them like brothers. The only drawback is that they can spot a cute guy a mile away, before I even notice him. You have to move fast around these two. LOL!!!

The question was a trap - either way. Had she added that, of course gay civil unions should have al the rights of marriage", her opinion would be identical to what both Obama and Biden said last year. (Or what Kerry said in 2004 - in fact, Kerry, in stressing that he wanted legislation giving civil unions full federal rights was the first nominee to do so.)

It is only very recently that any mainstream politicians said gays should be able to marry. I disagree with her answer and think that "opposite" marriage is a strange name and that an individual does not choose one or the other, but I think this as unfair a question as asking if you agreed with abortion - which would lead part of the right to label a liberal a "babykiller" That rhetoric, on either side, hurts the country.

The fact is that she is likely to be more an asset to the right than Joe the Plumber as she likely is what she said she is.

Perez's reaction was way over the top and unwarranted.

It was a bullshit question, IMO, for a beauty pageant, but I guess that's the risk one takes entering one of these.

Should they also have asked her how she feels about Palestine and Israel?

It's all bullshit, both sides are making political hay out of this and she's in the middle.

31. Her answer wasn't just bigoted, it was extremely incoherent..."opposite marriage" WTF?
Some may or may not like Perez Hilton, but He's not to blame. he asked a valid question, a news and politics driven question which most of the questions given to the contestants are, and she fell on her face trying to answer it. It showed she lack of grace and intelligence under pressure.

This wasn't all about her personal beliefs on marriage, this was about how she answered the entire question. She knew nothing about the law, she rambled on about "opposite marriage" and gay marriage being a "choice" all over our country.. She came off highly ignorant, not just because she doesn't believe in gay marriage, but because she isn't educated about issue at all and shouldn't have tried to pretend she was.

And if you really break down her answer you'll see she was also disingenuous. At first trying to seem supportive and ok with gay marriage but later stating she was against it. She was trying to play to the middle instead of taking a stance either way. So not only was she ignorant but also fake as hell.

53. To hate the sinner instead of the sin or what causes her to feel this way...
Is really not productive.

If you saw her would you call her names?

Would this cause her to be more understanding of your point of view?

Hate hate hate only begets more hate.

Instead of considering that the roots of the answers she honestly gave are the ignorance of her parents, community, church, etc., and trying to address these in a productive way, some would prefer to just strike out at her.

That attitude and behavior can only make her and those like her more firm in their twisted beliefs.

I don't know what's so hard to understand about that.

58. I agree. She just gave her personal view. And since gay marriage is still illegal...
in most states, it's not fair to call her a bigot because several states HAVE legalized it.

There was a way for her to answer the question directly w/o giving her personal views, but she chose not to go that route, or she didn't think of it. In any case, she's just a young beauty contestant who answered a question in accordance with how her parents raised her. And apparently most other people in CA feel the same way, since they voted to ban gay marriage?

Perez Hilton, in his shameful juvenile rantings, has set back the gay marriage movement in that state about five years, I figure. Sorry, the beauty contestant has come out on top (so to speak) on this one. In the end, it doesn't really matter WHAT her views are, after all.

27. I haven't got a problem with that.
I mean, if there had been a better candidate than Obama who was in favor of gay marriage, I'd have voted for him instead.

I mean, it's not like Miss Whatshername's competitors were all crazy old bigots like John McCain.

32. He doesn't sound like a babbling idiot when talking about this issue...for one.
He also is more educated on this issue and despite his personal views which may or may not be his views, he still wants to work towards giving the gay community equal rights.

He opposed Prop 8, No doubt Miss bigot obviously did not.

He knows there's no such thing as "opposite marriage", she does not

He knows that being gay is not a choice and he knows gay marriage is not a choice all of this country has. She however does not.

He can give a coherent answer under pressure. She can not.

Those are the differences.

47. The two have something in common: both are dumber than a sack of rocks
though "Joe" is probably a bit less abashed and more articulate about his stupidity. But just barely.

67. They embrace idiots to keep the idiot vote.
Yes I'm serious. The reason that people like Chimp and Sarah Palin are so popular with the Freeper types is because they're so fucking stupid. Taking a page directly from the Hitler/Goebbels propaganda manual, the reich wingers have convinced them that intellectualism in any form is "bad".

Bill Clinton - Rhodes scholar - BAD.
Chimpy Bush - Yale Legacy with a "gentleman's C average" who can't speak coherent English - GOOD
Barack Obama - Harvard Law graduate - BAD.
Sarah Palin - changed schools 6 times before finally getting a degree in "sports journalism", talks like a 6 year old. - GOOD

Thom Hartmann & Rachel Maddow - BAD
Hannity & SavageWeiner - GOOD

Idiocy is what sells to freepers. Physically attractive idiots, even more so (see FAUX Noize "anchors"). They will definitely make this bigoted idiot the next reich wing superstar.
