A hypothetical question
If a DUer constantly posts links to articles critical of the Obama administration, and trumpets polls that supposedly reflect poorly on the President, Vice President and other members of the team, is there a point at which that DUer is actively aiding the other side?

Now, now, I'm not calling anyone out. Let's be cool, ok?

3. I think their intentions are made pretty clear by this behavior.
However, if DU admin is cool with it, there isn't much that can be done other than ignore/hide thread.

4. Is it healthy for us to be aware ONLY of polls with result that make us happy?
Edited on Sat Apr-25-09 08:23 PM by Chuckleberry
I don't agree with that statement.

7. I think someone who does that constantly without saying anything positive about Obama should
be alerted to the Admin. Just so they are aware.

8. Your questions assumes a 2d perspective.
Why do you think there are only 2 sides, only "us" and "them?"

In reality, there are too many sides to count. The partisans for the major parties. The independents. The 3rd parties. The women. The men. The glbt community. Labor. Environmentalists. Educators. Corporatists. Hawks. Peaceniks. The multiple racial and ethnic groups. The youth, the boomers, the seniors, the city dwellers, the rural, the followers of many faiths and no faiths, the scientists and creationists, the skeptics and the mystics. The actual left, not just the left wing of the party or the nation. The rest of the world. The capitalists and socialists. The authoritarian and the democratic. The conservatives and neo-conservatives. The liberals and neo-liberals. The poor, the middle class, the wealthy. The more educated, the less educated, on a continuum. The privatizers and the regulators. The anti-intellectuals and the intellectuals. The educators and the rest. The voters and the non-voters. The legal and the not.

Why would you think that you could break all of that down into 2 sides, "us" and "them?"

Or are the only sides you can see "Obama's team" and "the rest?"

I don't have a "team" in this case. I support, or oppose, every politician, including Obama, on issues. When he gets issues right, I say so. When he's wrong, I say that, as well. How much you hear of each really depends on how often he's right, and how often he's wrong.

9. And per yours posts, he's just always wrong.

EDIT: Oh, and I think you mean "binary", "dualistic", or something like that. "2d" makes no sense as you used it.

11.  "Always" is a risky term to use, lol.
Edited on Sat Apr-25-09 09:24 PM by LWolf
Of course, you don't actually view all of my posts, so you can't accurately speak to the percentage of "wrong" vs "right" posts I've made.

Since you seem interested, I have recognized him doing things "right" when I think it happens. It's true I don't think it happens all that often, but I go out of my way to point it out when it does. I don't hate the man. I'm eager to see him do good things, so on those rare occasions, I SAY so. :D

2-dimensional is an okay term. Not great, perhaps, but certainly understandable. A better way to put it might be that I think the OP is using an "either/or" fallacy.

12. who knows what motives people have?
I think there are those that have a visceral dislike of the man, and have been carrying it around for quite a while. It is personal and emotional. But I guess it always is. Who knows?
