"Defending Torture Will Wreck The GOP" by organicdemocrat
for some reason this post gave me comfort...

from daily kos: http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2009/4/25/724309/-Defending-Torture-Will-Wreck-The-GOP

It is the Republicans who can put an end to this. Who will be the Howard Baker of the Waterboarding scandal? Who will step up first to condemn torture and admit that the whole program was a grievous mistake?

2. The GOP hasn't had a Howard Baker since, well, Howard Baker.
They could use a dozen Howard Bakers long about now.

At least.

3. Call it what is was: " a grievous CRIME"; then we'll talk. "Mistakes" are always swept away by "new
policies" so we "don't repeat the mistakes".

Bull^%$^ on THAT.
