1. Those look like some smart ladies
They're not even wearing flip flops!
He's going to have a closet full of jerseys pretty soon.

2. Too bad the coach is a frikkin' moron!
What a scuzz. UConn basketball has never been so successful, men or women, but it's never been so utterly devoid of ethical leadership, either.

4. You have teams that are backtracking to get their visit with Obama
Edited on Mon Apr-27-09 02:51 PM by LynneSin
The World Champion Phillies (who won their World Series before Barack was elected) were to visit the White House when they had a series with the Washington Nationals a few weeks ago. The event was cancelled because of the sudden death of their longtime legendary broadcaster Harry Kalas. I'm sure the Phillies will try again next time they are in DC.

Btw Jimmie Rollins was a major Barack Obama supporter - he made a couple of campaign stops in Philly including one on Election-Eve with Joe & Jill Biden. Jill was estatic - she's a major Phillies fan.

20. Yep...
And, that would make it even sweeter, if and when it comes to pass! I understand it's somewhat of a tradition for all World Series winners (and most national championship teams) to visit the White House. I don't get the impression that our President would break that tradition AND insult a huge chunk of his hometown in the process, over a silly rivalry. He already insulted us once by claiming that "Cubs fans don't know baseball." He obviously never met a real Cubs fan to say such a thing. That only holds true for the bandwagon jumpers. But, the way the Flubs are playing now, it looks like it will be another year before our parade occurs.

9. Coming FOX Headline: Obama Beats Women
Our pres apparently took them on in a pick-up game.

Then Obama invited the team to walk down the drive to his basketball court -- he in his blue suit and tie and most of them in sundresses and sandals.

Out of sight of reporters covering the event, the president reportedly took a few shots and possibly even played a game of some kind. After ten or fifteen minutes of occasional cheering, the president went back to work and the players headed back to the portico.

Who won? Point guard Renee Montgomery offered the only report.

"He did!" she said. "The president can shoot!"

18. Props to UConn.
They deserve it. However, don't give them all the credit for a higher profile for NCAA women's BB. Tennessee deserves a share. I wish the two were still playing every year!.
