This is a letter to the editor from the Indiana Daily Student:

Fight for single-payer health care
by Kay Mueller

POSTED AT 10:47 PM ON Apr. 28, 2009

(snip)

What can you do? You can e-mail or call Obama and say you support a single-payer system, such as Medicare for all (president@whitehouse.gov, 202-456-1111). Contact your Representative and urge him to support HR-676, which provides Medicare for all. Baron Hill is the Representative for Bloomington (baronhill.house.gov, 202-225-5315). Contact Sens. Evan Bayh and Richard Lugar, and ask them to support S-703, which also provides Medicare for all (bayh.senate.gov, 202-224-5623; lugar.senate.gov, 202-224-4814).

You can also join a demonstration at 11 a.m. May 20 on Monument Circle in Indianapolis. Hoosiers for a Commonsense Health Care Plan will be demonstrating against health insurance companies immediately after the shareholders’ meeting of WellPoint (a huge national insurer with headquarters in Indianapolis).

...........

Also there is Gov. Dean's Stand With Dr. Dean's Health Care For All Campaign at:

http://www.democracyforamerica.com/

"If Barack Obama's healthcare plan gets changed to exclude a public option like Medicare, then it is not healthcare reform. Legislation rises and falls on whether the American public is allowed to choose a universally available public option or not."

............

As Bernie Sanders said on the Ed Schultz Show last night it will take a strong grass roots movement:

8.  You can help to build this movement by getting the Reps and Senators in your state to sign on.....

FYI

You can help to build this movement by getting the Reps and Senators in your state to sign on.

NY Assemblyman Richard N. Gottfried

Follow-up actions include an appeal to President Obama and Members of the 111th Congress to appear in Roll Call, a widely read Washington, D.C. insider publication, press conferences, and soliciting endorsements from the National Conference of State Legislators, the National Governors Conference and others.

We need your help to make follow-up phone calls and visits to state legislators to make sure they read the mailed materials and follow-up on this appeal. They may have questions – we need local activists on hand to answer them. You can review the three-page mailing that went to every State legislator under "campaign resources" on the top left of this page.

Respond to Healthcare-NOW at info@healthcare-now.org or at 1-800-453-1305. Tell us which state legislators you will contact. If you are willing to be a regional or state-wide coordinator in this effort, that would be very helpful. You will find others who have assumed this role under "campaign resources" on the top left of this page.

Thank you for your help.

9.  Unions for Single Payer HR676.............

this is from and email I received yesterday :

Unions for Single Payer HR676

State Legislators Launch Effort to Push HR 676

A group of state legislators has initiated a nationwide effort to publish
an Appeal to President Obama and members of the 111th Congress to support
HR 676, single payer healthcare legislation introduced in Congress by
Representative John Conyers, Jr. and 75 co-sponsors.

Twenty four state legislators, from 16 states, have sent a copy of the
Appeal to all 7,500 state legislators in the United States asking them to
add their names to The Appeal which will be published in Roll Call, a
widely read Capitol Hill publication.

The legislators, in their letter, cite the growing “economic crisis” and
“badly strained” state budgets as the reason why they are asking “The U.S.
Congress … to heal our hemorrhaging state budgets while bringing
comprehensive quality health care to all our people, by passing HR 676….”

Co-conveners of the campaign are State Senator Jim Ferlo of Pittsburgh and
Assemblyman Richard Gottfried of New York. Senators and representatives
from Colorado, Georgia, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts,
Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, Texas, Virginia and
Wisconsin also signed the letter.

Kay Tillow, Coordinator of the All Unions Committee for Single Payer
Health Care—HR 676, welcomed the effort by these state legislators and
urged everyone to contact their own state senator and representative and
ask them to sign the Appeal.

“State legislators,” Tillow said, “are caught in a vice of escalating
healthcare costs, driven largely by the for-profit insurance industry and
declining revenues. Without a national single payer system, state budgets
will continue in crisis and health needs will not be met.”

The ‘Dear Colleague” letter, the ‘Appeal’ and other materials can be found

10. Uh-Oh . . . they changed their address . . .
I really hate it when government officials do this. You take the time to write something and they tell you . . . we didn't read it . . . submit it again in our online form . . . we only take messages from constituents . . . etc.

What happened to "listening" to the American people?

Arrrgh!!! Et tu, Obama.

Dear Friend,

Thank you for your message. On behalf of President Obama, we appreciate hearing from you. The President has promised the most transparent administration in history, and we're committed to listening to and responding to you.

In order to better handle the millions of electronic messages we're receiving and respond more quickly, we've implemented a new contact form on our website:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/

Please note that this web form has replaced comments@whitehouse.gov. That email address is no longer monitored, so we encourage you to resubmit your message through the link above. Thank you for using the web form and helping us improve communications with you.

Sincerely,

The Presidential Correspondence Team

11. I've contacted my congressman about it
and he is on the health committee. He's always looking for suggestions (in fact I got an email from him today asking me to help him push Obama's agenda).

If you're in NJ-6 you should suggest it too.

14. I did today when I got
an email leading to this.
I have always advocated to single payer--NOT the Baccus/Kennedy/WH plan that is emerging. Infact, it was Baccus who just a few days ago said there was little interest in single payer. What a joke.
