State of the States: Political Party Affiliation
this is a little old, but I think it's still important to note. I'd like to see what it is now, because just recently Republicans have sunk even lower in polls for party affiliation. In this there are only 7 states that are Republican and only 5 that are solidly so. -WB

PRINCETON, NJ -- An analysis of Gallup Poll Daily tracking data from 2008 finds Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Hawaii to be the most Democratic states in the nation, along with the District of Columbia. Utah and Wyoming are the most Republican states.
