Jeb Bush Joins Forces with Romney, McCain to Form the 'National Council for a New America'
April 30, 2009
Jeb Bush joins forces with Romney, McCain

From the AP:

Jeb Bush and other top Republican officials and lawmakers plan to announce on Thursday that they will have a series of town hall-style meetings about ideas for shaping the country, starting this weekend. Their goal is to highlight conservative policy ideas and draw contrasts with Democratic President Barack Obama.

Democrats have said Republicans don't have any new ideas and only say "no" to Obama's agenda. House and Senate Republicans want to rebut that claim.

They're forming a policy group called the National Council for a New America. It will include former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Sen. John McCain.

1. Since None of These Plays Well With Others, This Should Prove Entertaining
Far more likely that a bunch of lower-level PNACers are using them for a front.

10. We need to connect them with the failed PNAC agenda to make sure another * doesn't resurface!

We shouldn't under estimate the influence of their corporate media connections that may portray them as champions of change w/in the GOP!

8. Don't be so sure. The rep. party is so damaged that they have to change
the name, just like blackwater, so they can repackage shock and awe.

13. It won't be those tired assholes doing it, though. Can't make "change" with the "same old"
Edited on Thu Apr-30-09 07:26 AM by MADem
Now, if the McCain was Meghan, maybe. Jeb is known as "the smart one," but he's too damaged by his dumb brother. Of course, the one thing Jeb can do well is speak Spanish--maybe that'll be his "chore" on this little "concerto for the dumb and restless" tour.

Romney (aka Skeletor) has sold two of his four mansions, so he's probably still paying off campaign debt and not bankrolling this shindig. Jindal is more like Howdy Doody than Bobby Brady, poor fool, maybe the goal for him will be to work on his speech delivery.

I do think they intend to repackage themselves, make no mistake, but they need more fresh faces if they're going to make that work. They also need to cut out the crazy haters like Palin, and she won't go gently.

9. It will be more of the same.
America has seen first hand the results of Republican "values" at work, and those "values" brought us:

1. Two illegal wars
2. Record shattering deficits
3. Horrible economy
4. Rampant corporate abuse
5. Unprecedented government corruption
6. Torture
7. Discrimination
8. A more dangerous world
9. Government waste
10. Politicization of the Justice Department
11. Lack of response to Hurricane Katrina
12. Millions more without health care
13. Poor quality jobs

The list goes on and on. Really, America has seen their work already, and we've had enough. All of these people have made a living off the public for a long time now. They need to go find something else to do, America is sick and tired of their "values." We want a new America that isn't corrupted by Republican hatred, bigotry and greed. And since those three things define the GOP, there simply isn't room for them.

11. They obviously are ignoring any military training.
They have bunched themselves all together, and it will be much easier for the wingnut core that now controls the party to take the whole bunch out with one rhetorical flourish. It will so much easier for the moonbats to tag the
"National Council for a New America" as out of step with their movement. The "Club for Growth" will eat them alive.

They are going to have to do hand to hand combat on the local level and start to change direction that way. The only problem is that I don't think they have enough foot soldiers to win the war now. They need to spread out, and seed their message everywhere.

They won't do it. I think they all need to sit down and read the "Art of War." So far the only thing they appear to have read is the script to the movie Titanic.

17. It is. I guess these people have nothing better to do. They can't win
elections -- even regional ones -- and don't seem to have the wherewithal to form a bowling league.

May they wander in the wilderness a a good long time!

18. Watch For Jeb Bush To Emerge As 'The' Leader Of The New Repug Party......
earlier this a.m. as I woke up my tv was still on MSNBC as I fell asleep watching Rachel. Lo and behold Morning jo & ho were on and before I was able to change the channel - scar mentioned Jeb Bush in the context of leading the party. Now about an 1 1/2 hr since I heard that I see that Jeb Bush is part of this National Council for a New American NCNA. That't two mentions of Jeb Bush in a very short period of time.

We all think that Jeb has been tarnished by his dumbass brother - but - I say keep your eye on him and the Repug talking heads. I think that they are going to be talking up Jebby so as to give him a forum on the national stage. This is only starting now - but I think it is a way to get his toes in the water - and if it looks like the water is inviting - we'll be seeing more of him.

This is why I think that it is important to prosecute the BushCo war criminals. If we don't - watch for the same cast of characters to coincidentally crop up in the next Repug attempt for power. And if unfortunately they should be successful - all bets would be off with respect to the power grab they would make the next time.

I only hope that the Obama administration will be able to overcome the 'party of no' and continue to win the hearts and minds of the American people and that after Obama's second term - the stage is set for a continuing Dem administration.

As an aside - it's too bad that the Repugs didn't name their new council - New American National Council - or NANC - we could have called them "nancy's".

Whatever the name - it's strangely reminiscent of PNAC.

22. Poor Jeb
Seriously, if I didn't loathe the entire family so much, I could actually work up some smidge of sympathy for Poor Jeb. He's the "smart" one, and it was supposed to be him. Frankly, he couldn't possibly have fudged things up more than his brother. But George got Texas and the media love (oh, the nicknames. I still cringe at the media nicknames he doled out!), and Jeb got left behind. Probably still thought he could follow up and continue the dynasty until George screwed the pooch in every conceivable way.

The Dems would have to fail so miserably for another Bush to get the nod from the public any time soon. Maybe the nephew, but I think Jeb's not young enough to ride out the Bush hatred now.
