"I love my Bo."

Michelle Obama: "And the newest addition to the Obama family -- the most famous member of the family, Bo Obama -- is also doing well,'' she said of the first family's Portuguese water dog. "I have to say, he is the best puppy in the whole wide world. I love him to death.

"He is so sweet. But he's still a puppy... I got up at 5:15 a.m. in the morning to walk my puppy. That's how my day starts. Even though the kids are supposed to do a lot of the work, I'm still up at 5:15 a.m. taking my dog out. So for everyone who has a child asking for a puppy -- -- you have to want the dog. As I do. I love my Bo."

15. Once we had Mom's dog, Mom's cat, Mom's bird and Mom's mouse all
at the same time. I'd go into one room and find the Siamese hanging onto the birdcage (hanging from the ceiling) for dear life and hoping to get the bird, of course. Or the dog would be chasing the cat away from his food bowl and tip his water all over her. The best one was when my son got a mouse. Turns out the mouse was pregnant. Then the Siamese knocked it's cage off onto the floor, which was then covered in tiny little meeces that the cat chased around.

It was one thing to be in charge of feeding and all that. It was quite another trying to keep them all separated so one thing didn't eat the other.

18. Didn't happen with my sister's rats though...
Mom didn't know till years later...and that was when we told her...that sis had had a couple pet rats; Pocket (female), Brother Louie (male...that song was popular then, so that kinda tells you how long ago this was)...and eventually their six babies.

Ratlings look amazingly like itty-bitty puppies when they're born, aside from the hairlessness and longer tails...
they have really blunt muzzles that don't start to elongate and turn ratty-looking for a couple weeks or so.

61. Single parent household, mom was working...
...and instead of a rat cage, sis had an old metal breadbox she'd sort of converted for use to keep the rats in. She not only cleaned the cage every day, but the rats got a bath as well.
The box stayed in the closet while Mom was home...but we were kinda worried about the sound of the wheel giving the game away-

Yeah, we were kinda dysfunctional...

28. Here, two kids left home 2 dogs didn't.
I loved Buster and I love Mayla. I found Buster as a puppy, in my daughters closet when she was 15. She had a dish of food and water and newspaper in the corner. She thought I wouldn't notice a puppy crying by lunchtime.... I had my daughter home for 3 more years and Buster for 11. Mayla is kind of a boomerang dog. Our son takes her for a couple years and then somehow finds houses where he just can't have her.

She likes it here and we love her.

The two dogs in my family were mostly fed, walked and disciplined by my Dad and both recognized him as their main boss. That's despite the fact that the second dog was meant to be my sister's dog and that she looked after much of his training, fed him and took him for walks quite often.

But yeah...it's the same principle

I had to break myself of that habit when I visited my daughter. She said that the scraps were bad for dogs and added too many calories to their diets. But we humans love to be loved, so I still did it occasionally...just a bad habit I guess...or I need lots of love!

The kids are good for romps, but when puppy just wants to be petted and fussed over, he can usually count on Mama.

I was the dog's dog.

Seriously - my parents got a German Shepherd puppy when I was 3. That dog was very closely bonded with my dad and he treated her like a second daughter, but she took a PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY to make sure I was trained right. I mean, when they got her, she came into a household with a weird, ugly, furless, two-legged, obviously special-needs "puppy" who could barely toddle around properly and wasn't even trained to "go" in the yard! Obviously she had to groom me and push me around and show me what's what. She grew up too fast!

43. She also used a dressmaker in New York...
Many of her "couture fashions" were in fact "copies" of Paris originals made for her by a pair of sisters in New York. They made the pink "Chanel" suit that wasn't Chanel.

http://www.pinkpillbox.com/pinksuit.htm

Most of her clothes were copies of Paris couture originals made for her by Chez Ninon for a fraction of what the original would have cost. And with all due respect to Oleg Cassini he was never a Chanel or a Lanvin.

She was mindful of her position in the White House - every designer in the world probably offered her "freebies" which she refused.

Mr. Obama is Mr. Obama not as a result of what happened in New York but as a result of his once again excusing things on the basis of "ooops" and then "moving on" and telling us we must "move on."

Move on from policies of the previous administration that his administration has continued? Mr. Obama as opposed to President Obama? You bet.

I supported him and voted for him. And expect of him. And I'm sorry you don't like that. He will be President Obama once more when the previous administration is held accountable for its war crimes.

As for Mrs. Obama and her "fashion statements" I am deeply offended by it all to behonest when there are so many people in this country losing their jobs, their homes, their everything.

And she goes and buys a $540 pair of sneakers?

Something wrong with the picture. Something wrong with the Obamas. Something wrong with those who don't see that there's something wrong.

and if Mrs. Obama wants to spend some of the money that she has earned, a relatively small amount in the scheme of things, I don't have a problem with it.

If you're going to hold them to a zero-tolerance standard of spending, then as someone suggested, why don't you follow the same example and disconnect your access to the Internet in solidarity with and respect for those who cannot?

Why don't we make them use public transportation? Who in the world can afford a personal jet? That's obscenely extravagant and showy when there's a recssion on, so why don't they get with the damned program already? :eyes:

What a silly nitpick I think this is. She gets needled by big-name designers for not spending far more money on THEIR designs as it is, yet she's still not sufficiently thrifty to keep from offending a whole other faction.

How low SHOULD she go? It sounds like you'd be more than happy if they were held to a 'sanctioned' limit on their clothing expenditures. Never mind the outreach she's doing while she happens to be clothed in something she didn't pick up at the dollar store - she still isn't doing enough to suit you. Oh well.

Back to topic, I think it's great that she's taken Bo to heart - for some reason I would have ranked her behind Barack and the girls to attach to him, but it's great that he seems to be taking to his new family and vice versa.

Offended still. But mainly by the hypocrisy. But her closet is out of the closet. So she can spend freely as she chooses. It is her money.

But there are those who are also offended by the display of wealth during a time where so many have absolutely nothing while her husband does absolutely nothing but continue to bail out crooks.

And play games with regard to the war crimes of the previous administration. Guantanamo was supposed to be closed. Now we will have more military trials. To further disgrace this country. As if it could be disgraced any further.

They are just playing house at the White House. Isn't it fun playing president and first lady?

But never fear. All will be well. Michelle Obama is just the perfect first lady. Why, we're back in Camelot.
