Palin out of the picture? Debate.
So is she done?

Does she know she's done?

Does the GOP know she's done?

I don't think we've seen the last of her... her problem last year was that she didn't have enough "prep time". Her handlers only had her for a week before she went public. Give her handlers 3 years and she'll come across like Thatcher.

And I don't think gaffe-gate will work on her in 3.5 years... one side will play "Russia from my doorstep" and the other side will play "57 states with one more to go".

And here's my theory... I think she'll do better as she get's older. People tend to sexualize her... because of her looks. I think as she ages more people will take her seriously... just mho.

1. She will never be taken seriously by a majority. No matter how old she gets.
She has the following of a loyal minority of knuckle-draggers.

The true fun that I cannot wait for is to watch mittens, rudy, newt and others tear into hear in 2012. It will be legendary to watch the repukes fight for the nomination.

10. We suffered through 8 years of boosh, for one thing.
Another, she will be attempting a run against a successful and popular President and a brutal repuke primary. Her stature isn't growing. The American people have turned their back on hate and fear.

No, a majority of Americans did not take the Shrub seriously.

it would be complete idiocy for her too even attempt a presidential run.

think of all the corrupt shit that was uncovered during the election, add on top of that 4 more years of reporters and bloggers and investigators digging and sifting through the rest of her skeletons. not to mention all the damage from the Levi/Bristol drama.

she has an endless supply of information anyone could use to discredit her and destroy her in a primary, let alone a GE.

54. Technically, he got close enough to steal it, twice.
Edited on Wed May-06-09 11:11 PM by sofa king
Florida had to be stolen in 2000, and Ohio had to be stolen in 2004. Only the second time did Bush post a whopping 50.73% majority--that was his "mandate," if you recall.

The advantage of criminality goes to the Republican Party, and Sarah Palin is exactly what the next aspiring Dick Cheney wants: telegenic, with wide name recognition, and dumber than a box of learning disabled rocks, so she can't get in the way of business behind closed doors.

Having spent the past eight years closely observing the Republican Party, I don't see why Sarah Palin will be any different. A better, smarter candidate might run a better, smarter campaign, but the evil people who control the GOP don't want that sort of a candidate, so we can expect that person to be strongly opposed by his own party.

I think the biggest lesson of 2008 is that the best Republican opponents are other Republicans. The right-wing authoritarians can be easily programmed--once. Try to reverse that, and they get confused. So it was that John McCain, who had been slimed by Rove in 2000, was unable to bring right-wing authoritarians back to him, even though those same RWA's would normally stand in line for days to vote against a black man.

2. Brain function declines with age and imo she doesn't have
much to begin with. A serious candidate for the Presidency? You're kidding right? No amount of handling is going to make her sound like a thoughtful, intelligent person - one someone would trust with decision making.

She was less than ready to run as the V.P. candidate. There is so much she needs to learn about issues and I don't think she is up to it.

4. Let's be serious...
how many President's actually RUN the nation? How many actually coordinate every office and review every report?

None.

The POTUS is merely the guiding light for the Party. Look at Reagan, who thought he really did much in the way of management? Why was he elected then? People bought the "principles" and the "personna"

And what about *? I think Palin is in the same IQ category... lol, and he "won" twice.

9. I think President Obama is breaking the mold of what past
President's have been. Of course no one could read every report, but a good manager knows the right questions to ask and our current POTUS has demonstrated the capability to process information.

Palin lacks that ability and I think * is probably smarter than she is too (OMG, I didn't think I would ever say anything complimentary about him, lol).

Bachmann is crazy and stupid. A bad combo for sure. But "dangerous".....nah!

She's a Congressperson and won't rise any higher than where she already is.

I think even if the GOP regained control of the House or Senate, even they would have enough sense to keep her out of any leadership roles. Besides, she doesn't really have much seniority at this point.

The only reason she gets on the teevees is because she is crazy and stupid and gives Tweety some material to have fun with.... that's all.

19. she COULD
do it if she literally camped out with policy wonks for 3 years... reading every day and educating herself.

But I don't think she WANTS to. It's too much work.

The Repub line-up is VERY interesting... and interesting to analyze.

Newt (repping the Constitutional Neo-Con wing)

Romney (repping the Blue blood moderate wing)

Ridge (repping the RINO wing)

Huckabee (repping the fundie wing)

Limbaugh (repping... I'm not sure WHAT he's repping)

that party is literally split in 4 different directions.

That's what you are describing.

But in order to do that and have it be effective one has to possess basic intellect. That is something that is formed and honed in one's early years.

You can build a house on sand, but it will collapse very, very quickly.

She lacks the basic foundation.

20. She's most certainly not out of the picture
Rush Limbaugh gave us a gift this week by reviving Palin when everyone else had left her for dead. Limbaugh is propping Sarah Palin up as the last defender of conservative ideals, etc (this may shift once Jindal graduates junior high). So the 20% or so that make up the zombie population, along with the other percent or two who want to vote with their testosterone, means the GOP is split, royally screwed, and headed for a showdown.

So no, I don't think Sarah Palin is electable, but she's not done by a long shot. This will do great harm to the GOP, over and above what they've already done to their reputation, and it will provide endless entertainment for us.

Palin became even more of a joke after the election. Her family is a tabloid writer's wet dream, she's a colossal moron on all policy issues on the spectrum--with the POSSIBLE exception of energy--and she's facing ethics issues that just keep multiplying.

She's a joke and will continue to be a joke, and if the GOP makes the mistake of nominating her for President in 2012 I'm seeing a Reagan/Mondale-like landslide for Barack Obama.

sad isn't it. Crist is the only republican that scares me. He seems too sane for the GOP. I know Plouffe said Huntsman(sp?), he's basically a younger Romney. I don't see it, but I suppose anything can happen. i'm just tired of hearing about Palin. It bothers me to no end when people act like Katie asked her the toughest questions in history. What do u read is a tough question? I don't throw around insults, but the woman is just dumb. I've heard her a few times and outside of talking about Abortion and Alaska, she has no depth. And the only thing she says about Alaska is tax refunds. Alaska is the Saudi Arabia of the US. They can afford tax cuts and it not have a negative effect. She would run the country into the ground if she ran it. i would be so scared.

so she can reboot her image so the results won't be pretty for the Republiscum.

The GOP is far too short sighted. Palin should have never been introduced to their red meat seekers until she was coached up and under control. Now they have too much of a contrast between their bluebloods like Romney and Jeb and those that make up the base themselves. Now "Sayruh" is the base embodied and they demand to be represented by one of their own.

They will have a heck of a time putting the paste back in the tube and even more so getting their people to vote for a blueblood at all. The far Reich trust Republicans only slightly more than what passes for a far left.
