7. It looks like they are all singing...
...even the guy in the upper right hand corner. I think what is happening is that the National Anthem is being played.

35. I have to agree...
I don't think it is a picture of the President speaking, but of him and the others singing the National Anthem...That is why to man watching is saluting.

10. Found it - 'Martin Kritzer, 72, salutes after Barack Obama became president of the United States'
BEACHWOOD — Martin Kritzer waved the American flag as Aretha Franklin sang the "My Country Tis of Thee" in Washington, D.C.

Watching on a flat-screen TV with a roomful of residents at Menorah Park Senior Living Center, Kritzer, 72, said he was moved by the moment. "I never thought I'd see this happen in my lifetime," he said, his voice cracking. In the back of the room, employees began to crowd in to watch as Barack Obama took the oath of office.

Tears ran down the face of employee Peggy Ann Reed, who was too emotional to talk. Next to her was volunteer Helene Weinberger, 84, who said, "This is the day which the Lord hath made. Rejoice in it and be glad." Weinberger turned to someone near her and said, "I can't believe I'm seeing this in my lifetime. I've seen Roosevelt, and Obama and Kennedy."

Resident Dorothy Fain, 78, grasped her friend's hand. "He cannot do this alone. I'm glad he's asking us to help." Fain's friend Lilian McGuire, 83, said she was glad that former President George Bush and Obama were showing respect toward each other. This will make our country a better place, McGuire said.

26. Waaayy too much melanin in that photo for Mr. Rockwell
who seemed not to notice that there are and were many brown-skinned Americans.

But your point is still taken. :)

28. I beg to differ!!
Try visiting his museum in Stockbridge Ma. some time!! Do you recall the paintiing of the little black girl being escorted to school by U.S. Marshalls? Or the " freedom" portraits? Plus you have to realize that many of his models were from his hometown, which was not very diverse during his most prolific years of painting.

32. You know, I do vaguely remember a picture of a little black girl being escorted
to a school.

Is this the one??

If it is, my apologies to Mr. Rockwell and thank you, Janus for giving me the scoop.

31. Thank you so much for posting this picture.
My dad was a vet, a Marine, my son has served three tours of duty in Iraq, my nephew two - both Marines - this picture reminds me so much of my dad. How proud he would have been to see Obama elected President! The picture is beautiful! It really tugs at my heart.
