Sarah Palin's always been self-righteous, and I think pageants are archaic demonstrations of a patriarchal chauvinism we should leave behind, but I don't understand how swimsuits are sexually perverted.

I wasn't saying swimsuits were perverted ... just that Sarah's getting up on her high horse like a little puritan, when both she AND her daughter were pregnant before they got married (not judging, just saying the Palin ladies had healthy sex lives that don't conform to their alleged strictly-biblical interpretation of how they think we should live our lives) ... AND Sarah pranced around in a swimsuit to try to win a pageant. And then pranced around in short skirts and sexy heels to win an even BIGGER pageant (the VeePee pageant!).

I think I was one of the first to note that her use of the kids as PROPS and her obvious arrested emotional development (somewhere in high school - not senior year) amounted to a kind of child abuse. I can only shake my head at Bristol's pregnancy and observe that she acted out EXACTLY what she saw modeled by her own mother. As parents, the Palins are abject failures.

Sarah and Tawd continue to EXPLOIT their own kids to score specious media/political points with the faux poutrage over what is essentially NOTHING ... particularly at a time when Dr. Tiller and Officer Johns are murdered by ideological kin to the Palins.

Given a choice between condemning the killings and pouting about a late night comedian, her sense of priorities is, as ever, totally fucked up.

While I found Letterman's joke distasteful, I find the fact that the Palins use of this to foist their political agenda downright reprehensible. The entire thing is abouot as shallow as comes, they seized upon a sleazy opportunity, and are doing far more damage to their daughters than Letterman could ever do.
