Freeper Joe Boucher Openly Advocates In Favor Of Presidential Assassination
Edited on Fri Jun-12-09 06:15 AM by WeDidIt

Direct Link To statement in support of violence against President Barack Obama

Context: A story about Naval Academy graduates not being allowed to wear ceremonial swords to their graduation. The back story is, this policy was implemented as a response to 9/11 and has nothing to do with the president being there. That doesn't matter to blood thirsty Freepers.

It is my considered opinion that it is the duty of DUers to expose these threats to the life of the president or threats of terrorism by rightwing zealots where ever we may find them and to document them due to the scrubbing of such violent advocation.

1. If by "expose" you mean to post on DU, then, no -- it is not your duty.
If by expose you mean to report to the FBI, then I'd agree. But putting that crap up in here is not particularly useful; one gets the impression that you're simply giving more publicity to the Free Republic.

2. Wrong
By posting it here it is documented. The olink is documented. The screen print is documented.

3. That kind of stuff would get you banned here
I've seen posters in the past do that here... they get banned!
In fact, it's in the DU rules.

Laid out in clear black and white.

Do not post messages that could be construed as advocating harm or death to the president or other high-ranking official in the United States government. In the case of the president, do not even post jokes, as the Secret Service is not known for its sense of humor.

Do not post messages that could be construed as advocating armed revolution or violent overthrow of the government of the United States.

Do not post messages that could be construed as advocating violence or military defeat against the United States, the U.S. military, US service people, or the people of the United States.

Do not post broad-brush smears against US service people. Do not blame the troops for the mistakes of their officers or their Commander-in-Chief. Show the appropriate level of respect to those individuals who have put their own lives on the line to defend this country.

Do not post unpublished information on troop movements, military maneuvers, or any other information which may compromise US national security.

4. This thread is just designed to stir up hate, report them to the FBI!
This is not the place to post hate speech. So do your duty, the morally correct way, other wise we are no better than them.

5. I'm not keen with this stuff being posted here...
but if it's going to be posted, then it needs to be called in first.

9. Why? These people need to be called out and exposed everywhere.
I can't believe anyone would have a problem with this. When it's called in has nothing to do with it.

13. This was discussed on KO----are we giving these hateful words that much power by posting them.
It's an iffy situation. I'm on the fence as to how I feel. I agree that they're hateful words need to be promoted..but it takes away from our site which is trying to push a different mentality, a different direction. And I do agree when we spread it----we're helping him push his hateful meme across the net.

10. I guess I read that differently
This poster, as twisted as he is, is not directly saying he wants to assassinate anybody. What he is advocating is jury nullification, which is legal. You get to vote any way you want to on a jury, no matter how much or how little evidence is presented.

11. Not directly
But definitely saying that he thinks it would be a good thing, that the assassin would be considered a hero by history - which in itself is pretty fucked up and shows that the poster is one of the deranged people who equate Obama with people like Stalin and Hitler.

I personally think it's a good thing to expose those assholes at freepertown, especially in light of recent events.

16. It's direct enough to push another one on the edge off the fence
and that's the problem we face. These people have to be stopped by the more responsible members of society, obviously the owner of that site allows anything and everything hate related on his site. It's no wonder they are on a watch list.

I hear they like their eggs scrambled before they scramble asshats like Joe Boucher.

But it's not a direct threat though.

19. Neither were the statements of the museum killer
but these people are loaded to the hilt with weapons and they have an itchy trigger finger. Reporting something like this is the least anyone can do. At least there is no harm in it.

18. Wow.
I bet if someone had said the same about Bush, the Freepers would have been screaming about terra-ists and calling for Agent Mike!

But because Obama is black and a Democrat, it seems that anything goes.
