The one who had a baby and went on a media blitz holding her baby talking about abstinence. Why are people acting like he joked about ALL females???

all these RW twits with their panties in a twist over this, would theoretically applaud Dr. Laura calling Bristol a "knocked-up shack-up honey". which is what she calls all unmarried pregnant women.

(NOW needs to calm down too IMHO. there are MORE important issues women are facing RIGHT NOW besides whether Bristol Palin is a knocked-up shack-up honey.)

2. Exactly.
The whole thing is ridiculous. Palin used to talk about needing thick skin if people want to be involved in politics. I think she forgot that-conveniently.

21. Good point re their fascination with Dr. Laura and her tough love straight talk
The Palins are merely trying to re-frame the issue in a way that keeps them in the spotlight because they don't like being ignored.

I have a feeling that perhaps by the time Lettermen gets done with them, they'll be wishing they'd never started this re-frame job - they've already badly botched it, jmho, and this could go epic fail on the both of them. Yeah!

27. Is that an OK way to describe Obama's Mother?
"Let me be as clear as possible," Obama said. "I think people's families are off-limits, and people's children are especially off-limits. This shouldn't be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin's performance as governor or her potential performance as a vice president."

Obama said reporters should "back off these kinds of stories" and noted that he was born to an 18-year-old mother.

"How a family deals with issues and teenage children, that shouldn't be the topic of our politics, and I hope that anybody who is supporting me understands that's off-limits."

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/01/obama.palin/index.html

People here are throwing around all kinds of derogatory language, including calling the child a bastard.

"He who must be obeyed" would NEVER go on a media tour to argue back at someone who'd made jokes about Sasha and Malia. NEVER. He wouldn't even comment on it.

Just think, Sasha and Malia spent days in Paris and London and we saw, what? Three random pictures? The kids weren't paraded on a media tour. That Palin woman needs to keep her EYES open and her mouth closed.

42. Couldn't believe that line. You know, I know nothing about McCain's sons
other than I think he has more than one, and they are in the military. How come? Because he left them out of the campaign. I heard nothing about them or the other daughter (unless outsiders brought her up), and did hear from/about Megan because she is a politically active adult.

Palins brood is ONLY in the spotlight because PALIN put them there, and even now that she has lost, still won't remove them from the spotlight. She politicized her own children for her own personal gain, period. Obama didn't; neither did her running mate McCain and that is the difference. This is entirely within her control to stop at any time she so chooses to do so.

But since it is all about her, and not her kids, she'll keep doing it.

44. Here's a good analysis on that from buzzflash..
A BUZZFLASH NEWS ANALYSIS
by Chad Rubel

"If you don't think Sarah Palin is dangerous -- and chances are, you are already do -- what she and her husband Todd pulled off this week is just the latest chapter in "Which Palin family member will be sacrificed to make Sarah Palin look like a martyr."

She got a significant percentage of the population to think David Letterman was actually making a sex joke about a 14-year-old girl and got Letterman to apologize profusely for something he never did.

Margaret Carlson of Bloomberg News put it best when talking to Keith Olbermann last night on "Countdown."

"David Letterman did not drag the 14-year-old daughter into this. The Palins dragged the 14-year-old daughter into it. And it was absolutely egregious. And they obviously hunger for this kind of melodrama."

I borrowed this comment from a poster on immoral minority:

"This is all coming from a woman who hired a sexual harrasser as Comish of Public Safety. Attempted to get in a woman hater Wayne A. Ross as Attorney General. Made women pay for their own rape kit in Wasilla. Fired Walt Monegan when he wanted to help native women and children from rape and abuse in villages. where was her outrage for women then?"

furthermore, just listen to her laugh as another woman is called a "bit--", "fat" and a "a cancer" on alaska. oh, and this other woman is a cancer survivor. classy. Yeah, Palin is a feminist. Puke.
