35. This?
At the end of a back-and-forth bit with Letterman about the arguments between the campaign camps on the forum and style of the debates (that seemed to have included whether or not candidates would sit or stand), he said there was a compromise and "George Bush will be sitting on Dick Cheney's lap." Got a big laugh.

45. Iraq:
Administration consistently misleading Americans about what is happening. Only 5,000 security trained, not 95,000. President is "selling this rosy scenario" ... "America deserves the truth"

Four things that Pres. has to focus on urgently (same as speech today).

101. He's good and i hope he gets even better!
Instead of "this president has consistently chosen to ignore (advice on Iraq)"

How about this?
"He continues to ignore the advice he is given"
Or
"He still doesn't want to know what's really happening in Iraq"
Or ???
Just needs to be tight, really tight! And punchier!

My campaign manager (volunteer) was ruthless with me when I was campaigning for County Commission. I talk something like Kerry if left to my own devices. She was a tremendous help, but she would make me cut out words. Forced me to have sentences with a clear beginning, middle and end. No rambling, no segueing from one to another without a crisp stop. And no monotone.

On the positive side, she reminded me that people wanted to hear me. They came to hear what I have to say. They just need it to be delivered in a way that they can connect with.

Saying how if Shrub fails to act now in Iraq... there is no way to tell what we'll have in Iraq come January! This is a great strategy.

Also throwing in Luger and Hagel comments. How Shrub refuses to listen to people even in his own party.

This is a great interview for Kerry!

If you had been elected in 2000 would we be in iraq now?
No.

At the time the president went to war I said we should have taken longer to do the work with the inspection teams.
...
People who should have been with us were pushed aside by the president's rush.... and he has diverted the real war on terror.

Edited on Mon Sep-20-04 11:42 PM by Anti Bush
I Love John Kerry! :loveya:

But I still love Wes Clark too. :loveya:

What a team they'd make.

Maybe when/if Edwards does a show like that I'll be able to say the same thing about him. I've got to get to know him better. Wish the media would show him more often.

Kerry just got better and better from start to finish on Letterman tonight, and the Top Ten Bush Tax Laws was unbelievably funny and strong.

Please, please, all you DU'ers more technologically savvy than me - post video link as soon as possible!

He will eat up Bush in the debates!!! Especially the town hall one...he locks in like Clinton does...

This was a great job - Dave looked so touched when Kerry complimented him on his good job post 9/11...very genuine remark bt John...

81. He is doing good!?! Yeah!
He seems a lot more casual and well-spoken.

He had a couple of good one-liners.

Yes, he did have those I am listing out my policy and my voice will now go into blah, blah, blah tone.

But he seemed to recover from those moments a hell of a lot better than in other interviews.

But he seemed a hell of a lot more relaxed than when he was on John Stewart.

Oh yeah the top ten rocked!

I'm actually feeling optimistic today! Alert the media! :D

127. And another group of musical powerhouses "Wake Up" America...
Edited on Mon Sep-20-04 11:51 PM by southlandshari
Thanks for that link - didn't know about that coalition of rockers and comedians working to unseat Bush!

For those who might be interested, but haven't heard of this one...

Another formidable group of entertainers working for the cause have re-recorded the 70's anthem "Wake Up" to encourage people (especially young people) to get out and vote in November.

Powerhouse R&B, Hip Hop and Rap artists featured on the track include Babyface, Mary J. Blige, Ashanti, Missy Elliot, Eve, Monica, Musiq, Brandy, Wyclef Jean, as well as Russell Simmons and Jamie Foxx.

Missy Elliot's riff is especially strong, mentions Fahrenheit 9/11.

Even if you aren't a fan of the genres of these artists, I'm betting you'll enjoy the song's lyrics and passion. You can listen and download (free) the audio and video versions here:
