Kerry will be on Dr. Phil Show

Kerry is making the rounds of popular and decidedly nonpolitical television with upcoming interviews on "Dr. Phil," "Live with Regis and Kelly" and "The Late Show with David Letterman."


"Obviously, we're reaching out to people who might not be paying attention just to nightly news," said Kerry spokeswoman Allison Dobson. "It's part of the introduction of John Kerry and Teresa Heinz Kerry and who they are and what they are about, just as people."


Kerry's interview with Dr. Phil McGraw will be taped Saturday morning in Boston. Both their wives also will participate in the show, which the campaign said will focus on how Kerry and Heinz Kerry raised their children and how they are affected by the lessons they learned from their parents.


The episode is scheduled to air on Oct. 6, the Kerry campaign said. McGraw also has taped a show with President Bush (news - web sites) and First lady Laura Bush that has yet to air.
