Is Kerry dropping discussions of the economy?
Is he going to be talking exclusively about Iraq in the remainder of the campaign?

1. He has to.

National security is Kerry's weakest area. Unfortunately, this election is about the "war on terror" and "Iraq war".

On edit: If the voters don't feel Kerry will keep them safe, he'll lose. So, Kerry has to focus on national security. Besides, he's already talked about the economy and it hasn't really gotten him anywhere.

2. What would lead you to that conclusion?
Kerry seems to be hitting all the points on war and the economy, and I doubt there is reason to alter that approach. Yesterday was a major policy speech on Iraq so, of course, there was no focus on the economy, though he did outline how the US is bearing 90% of the cost of the war on Iraq.

3. He better not!
Hit boy georgie on jobs! That's where he's a bad pres. Rove/Bush knew Kerry had an advantage on the Vietnam thing, so they put out all this swift boat crap, and now the voters are saying they're just sick of hearing about it and want people to shut up about it. So Rove took something Kerry was good on, and neutralized it and made it into something nobody wants to hear about.

I say talk about jobs. NObody wants their jobs to go to China. Outsource the CEO...and the CEO in this case is boy georgie!

4. I heard he is hitting health care today. A lot to talk about can't cover
all the facts in just one speech. That is what is so amazing. There is so much this admin has done wrong it is hard to keep up with them. I think that is part of their strategy too.

5. I don't know...
... but IMHO it is smart to focus on one major issue at a time. After he lays the war to rest he can tackle the economy.

6. "It's not the economy, stupid this time around...
The Bush Adminstration has sufficiently convinced enough Americans that the economy is not really that bad. It does not have the strength as in recent campaigns, although it should. Iraq and terrorism are the issues that Bush wants to talk about and those are the issues that will determine the election

7. don't fall into the Repug/media trap!
When he talks about the economy they question why is he avoiding national security. Then visa versa. Some weeks ago when he was talking about jobs and healthcare that weenie David Brooks had an op-ed about why isn't he talking about his religious faith.

Reminds me of the old story about the mother who gave her daughter 2 sweaters. When the daughter showed up wearing the red one, the mother said, "What's wrong with the yellow one?"

You can't win when they're determined to make you wrong. Kerry's doing okay. That speech at NYU yesterday was incisive and strong. And yes, there is SO much to talk about...

9. No. . .But he must HAMMMER the notion that Bush keeps US safer
However, he must HAMMER Bush on Iraq and hammer him hard.

Bush is weak on National Security. But look at the internals of all the polls and you see that people PERCEIVE Bush to be stronger than Kerry.

Kerry must reverse that perception to WIN>
