7. Don't forget Colorado's Amendment 36, Maine, Nebraska

Colorado's Amendment 36, if passed, would give Kerry between 3 and 6 electoral votes, depending upon whether he wins the state or not.

Also, Nebraska and Maine, each distribute 2 electoral votes to the statewide popular vote winner, and then allocate the remainder to each congressional district's popular vote.

Colorado Gov. Bill Owens (potential future Republican nominee) said that this is "bad for Colorado" in yesterday's USA Today. He said that it would make Colorado less important in future elections.

It is also conceivable that if Maine is not solidified, one of its electoral votes could go to Bush.

At the same time, if the Nebraska Democrats were able to summon some motivation and produce a miracle in, say, the Omaha or Lincoln areas, Kerry could snag an electoral vote there, too.
