Pick your favorite quote from the Bush speech to the UN
Here is the link:

http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/09/21/bush.un.transcript/index.html

Here are my favorites (so far):

We know that dictators are quick to choose aggression, while free nations strive to resolve differences in peace.

Uh, Bush chose aggression against Iraq. . .

No other system of government (other than the US) has done more to protect minorities, to secure the rights of labor, to raise the status of women . . .

Yea, you want the docs to be fee to practice their love--except if the docs are LESBIANS. Stereotyping gyno docs as men who have sex with their patients is good for women but banning homosexuals from marriage doesn't conflict with protecting minorities?

3. Here's mine..
The people of Madrid and Jerusalem and Istanbul and Baghdad have done nothing to deserve sudden and random murder.

So, you admit, that we killed thousands of civilians in Baghdad for absolutely nothing? Can they drag you to the Hague now, or do you want to wait till January 20th?

4. Here's mine...
"democracy simply means good government rooted in responsibility, transparency and accountability."

I guess that means Bush is giving us bad government.

7. Faves from GWB's YewInn speech
Heard this a couple of times:

"Terranetworks." Anyone care to translate?

After that, my favorite:

"For any who still would question whether muslim societies can be democratic societies, the Afghan people are giving their answer."

Um, George? For any who would question this, we've had Indonesia and Turkey as much, much better examples of "democratic societies" for awhile now. And I think the folks in attendance might be aware of these countries.

I'm just sayin'.

One last thing. Whenever GWB gets defensive about Iraq--and he was plenty defensive as he gave this grim speech--it's "Democratic" this, "Democratic" that. Every time I hear the Preznit using the term "Democratic" to describe a preferred form of government, I think of the kneejerk Freeper response to anyone who dares to refer to the USA as a democratic society, or (Gawd ferbid!) a democracy.

To wit: "We-allz a REE-publick, yew CommieLib traitor!

8. Biblical bromides
'AIDS is the greatest health crisis of our time and our unprecedented commitment will bring new hope to those who have walked too long in the shadow of death.'

He had to link AIDS sufferers with a Biblical passage ("Yea, though I walk through the shadow of death")

'We've witnessed the rise of democratic governments in predominantly Hindu and Muslim, Buddhist, Jewish and Christian cultures.'

What is this, name as many religions as comes to mind?

9. Sayeth the butcher of Abu Ghraib:
They believe that suicide and torture and murder are fully justified to serve any goal they declare. And they act on their beliefs.

"The fund would help countries lay the foundations of democracy by instituting the rule of law and independent courts, a free press, political parties and trade unions.
Money from the fund would also help set up voter precincts in polling places and support the work of election monitors." says the guy who got in through an election his brother fixed, whose gang is currently trying to get a newsman fired for daring to report on this pinhead's past.
