ABC just bitch slapped Bush
They show Bush saying that Kerry supported keeping Saddam in power. Then ABC showed a clip of what he really said. After showing what Kerry really said, Jennings said something like, now that is what he said, and then said you need to listen carefully to sort out the truth.

39. And also to the bigger asshole Hannity.
He kept hammering on that today. The fact that Kerry said that Iraq would have been better off if Saddam was still in power.

Yikes. That can't be a misunderstanding. As Al Franken would say, that's another LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

(6MB,1 minute clip)

If a simple left-click doesn't work... Right-click, and "Save target as..."; then open in Windows Media Player.

56. Don't forget to post these video links to Yahoo message boards
Edited on Tue Sep-21-04 10:22 PM by tuvor
if you post there at all. People appreciate it, and best of all is the deafening silence from the bushkissers.

Here's what one person replied with when I posted the lind for Jennings comments:

Thanks for posting that link. This is so typical of the deception of double-speak that comes from the White House and the Republican marketing machine.

Kudos to the media for finally starting to expose the double-speak of this campaign.

Feels good, doesn't it?

50. I wrote them

I just wanted to write and congratulate ABC and Peter Jennings on showing some journalistic backbone in calling out the President on his intentional mis-statement that Kerry supported keeping Saddam in power. To be blunt, many of us were shocked that Jennings didn't simply remain quiet as most journalists do these days.

Jennings showed Bush saying that Kerry supported keeping Saddam in power. Then you showed a clip of what he really said.

Keep up the good work. Step by step, the efforts of reporters such as Jennings will restore integrity to the media industry.

37. I had the same thought ...
The 'real' journalists have to be mighty pissed and almost afraid at what's happening to Rather, because it means their profession has been manipulated and pimped by the ratfucks in the Administration, and any one of 'em is fair game.

I'd imagine that one is only able to bend over and say 'aaaah' for so long, and then it must get frustrating and humiliating.

Hopefully more of the old-timers will stand with Rather and CBS and not let KKKarl and his CREEP's steamroll reality any longer.

21. Like rats scurrying to leave a sinking ship,
the news media perceive that Kerry is starting to kick some ass now, and that he is likely to win. It is not surprising that they will want to jump onto the bandwagon, so that they will have access to the White House during the Kerry administration.

CBS already knows where the documents came from, and who duped them, and that's why they pulled their story. And what if they spread the news to the other networks that the administration set them up. Wouldn't this piss off all of the newscasters. Maybe this is what we are seeing.

Make an ad showing what Kerry said followed by what Bush said he said and then followed by the first clip of Kerry making the statement and then say on fade, "Still misleading, still lying. This should be beneath the President of the greatest nation on earth."

This morning Cafferty was bitching about health care, saying it should be a more prominent topic.....and then tonight on Dobbs They spent a good 5 minutes slapping Bush around, ending with a question about why Bush took the advisers so seriously when they gave him a reason to go to war and now he dismisses their findings as "guesses" when it suits his purpose to ignore them.

If every station would play back clips of what was actually said versus what this administration states, a fucking lot more lies would be exposed. Instead, we get this fluffy bullshit coverage of either lies from the WH, or the antics of Britney Spears. . . Our media, hard at work.

35. my response to Jennings
I had just read a comment about tonights news broadcast. It was mentioned that you referred to a comment from Mr. Bush about John Kerry supporting keeping Saddam Hussein in power and countered it with what Sen. Kerry actually said.
The admonition to the viewers to listen carefully to sort out the truth supports the feeling I have that corporate media will not inform the public unless it supports their own financial interest. I have not viewed much broadcast news since March of last year. If your memory is not impaired, I'm sure you understand the significance of that time in history.
I am thankfull that the internet provides a voice to independent and non-professional journalists. Our society thrives on the free exchange of ideas and information. If the commercial media will not provide it, we will find our own sources.
I challenge you to lead the way. Do every thing you can to provide important and informative news to the public.
I thank you for providing some measure of truth in your broadcast and hope that it is not going to be something out of the ordinary. If that is the case, I might even turn on my television to see the evening news.

62. Here's mine...
Mr. Jennings,

Thank you so much for the integrity you displayed today by unmistakably disproving one of the president's outright lies told to the press about John Kerry.

In these days where sensationalism is king in the media & dirty campaigns are tolerated & promoted, it's like a breath of fresh air when a news channel refuses to give a below-the-belt, misleading statement a free pass.

What in the world has happened to the Fourth Estate, who is supposed to be the watchdog of the people? Have they sold their souls? I saw a report today on CNN that compared Kerry's recent tv appearances (Daily Show, David Letterman) to the president's UN speech today. The reporter who put together the video report ended with this statement (p/p): "Now, which one of these two appear more presidential? We'll let you decide."

Thank you for the integrity you showed today, Mr. Jennings. It's very, very much appreciated.
