Which prison should Tom DeLay be sent to?
Huntsville with the rest of the condemned, or a federal country club?

I say let him break rocks on an Alabama chain gang.

He must have shit a brick when he heard about this:

AMERICAN-STATESMAN STAFF
Tuesday, September 21, 2004

A Travis County grand jury on Tuesday indicted three top lieutenants of U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay in connection with corporate money raised during the 2002 elections.

Indicted on one count of money laundering were John Colyandro, the executive director of Texans for a Republican Majority Political Action Committee, and Jim Ellis, a former DeLay staff member now head of Americans for a Republican Majority, DeLay's national fund-raising political action committee.

Colyandro also was indicted on 14 counts of unlawful acceptance of a corporate political contribution.

Warren Robold, DeLay's corporate fund-raiser, based in Washington, D.C., was indicted on 18 counts; nine of unlawful political contribution by a corporation and nine of accepting those contributions.

It is surrounded on three sides by alligator-infested swamps. Good place for DeLay.

23. Leavenworth.
If he's convicted of federal crimes he'll have to go somewhere federal. Leavenworth is one of the nastier places in that system. I hope they give him a big, hairy roommate with no teeth and a lot of tattoos who wants to be his boyfriend.

Too bad they can't ship him off to Abu Ghraib. How about it, freepers? You guys like prisoner abuse, so let's imagine your hero The Bug Man in an ass-pile with a bag over his head.

30. The one in Illinois..
where Richard Speck (the infamous killer of the 7 nurses) was taped looking and acting like a woman (there was some conjecture that he might have been taking hormones). He's dead now, although I don't recall if someone killed him or if he died of 'natural causes'. Barring that, Angola would be good. Attica (upstate NY) might be too: I'm sure its hardcore NY felons would enjoy a visit with a good ole boy.

it's down near STL and is supposed to be the worst prison in the US. Normally you can't go there directly - you have to go to another prison first and graduate to Marion. But in Delay's case we could probably make an exception.

43. Parchman, Marion or Dannemora
Parchman, in the toasty humid heart of Dixie in south Mississippi - it's especially pleasant during the summer months.

Marion - I hear that the isolation ward there is particularly soul-crushing.

Dannemora - In deep upstate New York - ten months of winter, two months of damned hard sledding.

I understand he represents the folks in Sugarland, TX. I just hope they are aware that three of his people have been indicted, and that DeLay himself is caught up in the illegality. I sure hope they will elect his opponent, Morrison. The "Hammer" deserves to lose.
