Question from Repuke Friend at Work About Beheading
Edited on Tue Sep-21-04 08:13 PM by louis c
A co-worker who engages me in friendly debate about the election asked me what I thought the US reaction should be toward the latest killing of an American hostage.

Here was my reply, "I don't know, I'm not the President. However, if Bush reacts the same way he did when the contractors were killed and mutilated in Fullujah back in April, maybe he'll do the same thing thing again this time." My friend gave me a quizzical look, and I responded, "You remember what he did, don't you, he surrendered."

That certainly shut him up.

1. We talked about this at work. It's just a terrible story
One mentioned some guy on a pro-gun site thinking Kerry would like this because it would benefit him. What an aweful way to think of such a horrible story.

6. Kerry could never beat *'s smirk when talking about death no matter what.
I was wondering about this all day. Is there any dialoge with these nuts from this administration?

14. Yeah, dialog with a mental defective.
Bush cronies have thrown away whatever humanity they had to follow a numb nuts coke head. Bush would kill his mother for 5 minutes of power.

2. Has anyone at the admin even mentioned this?
Ive heardly heard anything about it. The entire media is in a feeding frenzy over docu-drama, and trying like holy hell to connect Kerry.

TWO Americans beheaded in 2 days and it's a low level story. How freakin sad and scary.
:kick:

3. The whole f**king war
is awful, and unnecessary.

That's the point. I feel bad for everyone who has been harmed in this war.

It's all Mr. Big Balls' fault. Get tough with other people's kids. Challenge the terrorists with "Bring It On".

Of course it's awful, war is hell, that's why it should be avoided unless it is absolutely necessary.

There is no greater crime that a world leader can commit than to lie to start a war. Bush should burn in hell for all eternity for the sins and crimes he has committed.

5. My mother asked me what I thought of the beheadings
and I told her it was awful, but we are beheading their children with our bombs so what difference does it make how you behead someone; the end result is the same. She's a repug so her answer was "well, we didn't do it on purpose" - hard to get through on a logical level.

I don't know why people act so shocked now. It's a different culture and we are there.

12. Well, I guess we'll just have to fucking kill everybody, huh?
That's what I say to them.

Let's just torch everything from Morrocco to the Philippines, huh?

What should we do? Try to put the pieces back together in Iraq and get out. We can't leave now, and not because of "honor" or coded phrases for macho crap and ego like that, but out of concern for mankind. We screwed these people, and we have to make it right.

No, don't accede to the demands of this particular moment, but don't use this as carte blanche to justify any subjugation we choose.

We started this.

16. Ask him if he knows anything about bullshits buddies in Saudi
He not only surrenders to them he bends over on a daily basis (and takes the rest of us along for the ride)

Those SOB's behead people as a regular course of habit...yet they are "bush's and America's friends"

The beheadings are beyond vile and I can barely stand to think about the topic...but they are certainly tolerated by the bushies if it's the house of Saud doing them.

This is the mess we find ourselves in (that bush exposed us to)

17. Bush let Zarqawi go.....
3 times....the military had 3 separate plans in 2002 and 2003 to take him out and the * WH shut them down because it would diminish their cause and reasons for invading IRAQ. So we are left today with the disgusting photo-op of * "giving his sincere condolences" to the Armstrong family....Excuse me, I feel another Maalox moment coming on....

18. Kerry will do the same thing about the beheadings
that he will do about the 2-3 American soldiers and the roughly $100 + million a day this thing is costing us: work to internationalize it as much as possible and get us out as soon as possible.

The beheadings are a red herring, an emotional appeal used to distract from the real issue: "It's the occupation, stupid!"

As soon as you start breaking the occupation down into this or that atrocity, you lose focus on the big picture. Israel has been playing this PR trick for decades now with dazzling success, and it seems the wingers have learned much from the Israelis.

22. Why are those people there?
When conversations about contractors being kidnapped and or killed come up, I always ask the other person who did the jobs the contractors are doing before we occupied Iraq? Armstrong was a civil engineer, how many unemployed civil engineers are in Iraq now? It's their country and they need the jobs. Are there no pipers, mechanics, engineers, etc. in Iraq? What is the saying about idle hands?

The beheadings are just another catastrophic success.
