Answering a young Bush follower
Posting at alt.impeach.bush

Amanda:

"I'm having a really hard time listening to people make their debate
cases based on Michael Moore's purely propagandic film. I hate that he
is just getting his ego fed more and more because of his extremist
"documentary."

It's especially hard to listen to all of this being in college, where
a good part of my peers are bleeding heart liberals and I'm not. I got
into a shouting match with a co worker tonight in our
liberal/conservative clash.

Bush is a good president. Yeah, we're all a little edgy following 9/11
and the invasion of Iraq, but the fact of the matter is if he had sat
back and done nothing, everyone would be pissed off then too. It was
like he was stuck between a rock and a hard place and many people
(read: the left) are ready to jump down his throat about any and every
decision he makes.

What makes anyone think that John Kerry will do a better job? If we
want to talk about shady pasts, let's talk about HIS Vietnam record. I
don't even think war records really matter at this point in the
election. People are blowing way too much smoke around this Vietnam
business and it hardly matters thirty years later. What matters now is
the future and what either man plans to do with it."

Cosmo's response:

"Here's your solution in a nutshell Amanda. Drop out of college and join the Army. As soon as you get out of trianing, you go the the Company HQ, and ask for a DD form 1049. That is a transfer request. Write "IRAQ." In no time, you will be doing something you, seem to be whole-heartedly behind. This way you won't have to get in shouting matches with you liberal peers, you wull be a living, or dead, testimonial to your belief system. Now, you know what to do.

See, then, instead of hearing people jumping down his throat for every decision, you can be there to defend his decision in a combat zone, rather than the confines of college.

And, God forbid, one of his "decisions" costs you your life, but at least you will die knowing you defended something you belive in, instead of just paying lip service. Unless Amanda, you are to good to fight the war, and just uneducated slobs have to go and fight, and the closest thing you do to war, is a nasty "shouting match" with liberals.

When you get to Iraq, please find a PC and let us know how you are doing.

PS. Maybe you will be real lucky like the kids who are your age, who are in Walter Reid hospital getting fitted with fake arms and legs, courtesy of one of Bush's decisions.

Bye now, don't forget to write."

1. Yes. "Why don't you sign up" is, I think, a very effective tack with this
people. They will justify it to themselves anyway, though.

3. I see the "Bush, lonely man at the top" sympathy, but its crap
Fact is, Bush was told exactly how to avoid his Iraq debacle. I told him. The State department told him. Millions told him. Let the inspectors do their job, because they will either find WMD and we will have an international coalition, or they won't, in which case we won't have a war with a doubtlessly costly occupation.

All Bush had to do was make the right choice, and he would have been a fucking hero at home and abroad. Maybe someone would have criticized him, but he could have told them to bug off as he shows how strength plus restraint for a specific strategy pays off huge.

But he is predestined to choose the wrong strategy at each and every opportunity. Dick.

4. Man! This pisses me off!
"Yeah, we're all a little edgy following 9/11
and the invasion of Iraq, but the fact of the matter is if he had sat
back and done nothing, everyone would be pissed off then too."

Who the fuck wanted him to sit back and do nothing, Amanda? He is the one who said Osama bin Laden was responsible for 9/11! Then, to justify his invasion (damned if you didn't hit the nail on the head with that word!) he tells us somewhere around his 15th excuse that Saddam was in cahoots with Osama. Why didn't he stay the course until he finished Osama off? Why are you putting Iraq and 9/11 in the same sentence? One had nothing to do with the other! When the hell will you people wake up?!
