A delicate balance?

When Kerry was yesterday on Letterman's, I was bothered by the way he referred to Bush as "the President." On the one hand, I suppose, he wants to show his respect for the office. After all, he should occupy it within short four months. On the other hand it does convey a respect for the man and it could cause some people to think about Bush in that respect.

Earlier today when Edwards was interviewed by Lou Dobbs, he was talking about Bush and Cheney. And on ABC News, Bush was talking about "my opponent."

Perhaps this will be good for Kerry, to refer to Bush as his opponent.
