Bush Admin has had since 1998 to "plan for the peace" in Iraq!
I realized that today, and I got even more angry than I am every day as it is. We know that the Project for the New American Century (PNAC) members -- including Cheney, Wolfowitz, Rummy and other top players in Dubya's administration -- have been planning to attack Iraq (to stabilize it for their corporate buddies' self-interest) since the neocon group's first manifesto in 1998.

So, they've not only had since spring 2003 to plan for the peace. They've had SIX YEARS to plan for the peace, since that's how long they've been planning for the war.

Which makes this administration's colossal fuck-up in Iraq even more heinous!!!!!!!

1. They've had the plan to invade and overthrow
for years. I'm not convinced it was primarily for corporate buddies self-interest...though that's a nice little safeguard to have if everything goes to hell (as it has).

I think PNAC is grounded in hegemony. JMHO

5. I think it's a combination of world domination and corporate
self-interest. The oil. The defense contracts that make the world go 'round (and keeps the American ruling class in power) ... it all goes hand in hand.

3. Oh they had a hell of a plan. It just didn't work.
It's all clearly laid out in last month's Harper's magazine.

Unfortunately it's not online yet.

They had an extremely detailed plan, it was all figured out, they were going to create a capitalist "utopia" in Iraq, where corporations could come in and do whatever they wanted and pay no taxes.

Then those pesky Iraqis fucked it all up.

4. Winning the peace
I don't think that was ever in their game plan. After all Cheney has said several times that the war could last up to 30 years. We will not leave there until every last drop of oil has been sucked out of the ground.

Cheney made sure when he was in congress that Halliburton/KBR would be guaranteed contracts for them to build all kinds of construction needs, as well as starting the program that Halliburton supply the US troops their meals.

When he became the CEO of Halliburton he personally went and lobby congress to be able to do business in countries that the US had sanctions against. When congress went against Cheney he found away around that and did business with these countries any ways. Just so you can reference the countries Iran, Iraq, and Libya. He is also responsible for off shore contracts. Before he was named the CEO, Halliburton only had 9 off shore accounts. After he became CEO, Halliburton obtained 44 off shore accounts. I guess that's what he meant when he said Halliburton was able to use very creative accounting.

He also made sure Halliburton could win all the no bid contracts without any problems from any and all competitors.

So, Cheney has been working with terrorist nations for his whole life.
