I talked to someone the other day who is in a position to help deserving progressives here and there. This person is something of a recluse and definitely not a DU type of personality, but believes in liberal causes.
In brief, my friend has already donated $2,000, the maximum individual contribution allowable, to our local Democratic candidate for Congress. There's nothing in the campaign laws that would forbid my friend from donating to Congressional or Senate candidates in other areas, right? And nothing that would get such candidates into trouble for accepting such donations?
I'd welcome a pointer to a "Campaign Finance Reform for Dummies" Web page, or advice from DUers who are really in the know (and I don't even like that expression!) about such things. I've never had a reason to research such issues prior to now, and I know it's getting late.
Also welcome are suggestions about liberals who are in tough races and could use a few (hundred?) dollars, or pointers to an interesting thread about such people that I remember reading here (and even posted in!) but can't find through the DU search facility. I can't promise anything to any particular candidate, but I'll try to bring deserving progressives to the proper attention.
