Lou Dobbs a ‘publicity nightmare’ for CNN.

Lou Dobbs a ‘publicity nightmare’ for CNN.

The AP reports that a publicity nightmare for CNN, embarrassed his boss and hosted a show that seemed to contradict the network’s ‘no bias’ brand. And on top of all that, his ratings are slipping.” Dobbs, who has given favorable coverage to the “birther” conspiracy, is forcing CNN President Jon Klein to offer untenable defenses of his conduct:[br />
Klein said Dobbs does a smart newscast that explores issues that get little in-depth attention elsewhere, such as trade with China, health care funding and the stimulus plan. He suggested Dobbs’ CNN work is unfairly lumped in with his unrelated radio show, and that he’s judged on the show he did a couple of years ago, when Dobbs became a political target for his campaigning against illegal immigration.

Media Matters notes that Dobbs’ “smart newscast” is a regular fount of misinformation. Moreover, Klein’s claim that Dobbs’ radio show is “unrelated” to his TV show is false. Media Matters also reports that Dobbs frequently promotes his CNN show and hosts his CNN colleagues on his radio show.

1. Klein misses one little teeny weeny point
"he’s judged on the show he did a couple of years ago, when Dobbs became a political target for his campaigning against illegal immigration"

Well, no, this time he's being judged on a show he did a couple of days ago, when he started spouting off a discredited right-wing internet rumor that has been debunked more times than Cheney snarled. Dobbs' version of a tamed Howard Beale falls flat and CNN can either take the dump in ratings or dump Dobbs. Fox is the home of mad prophets of the airwaves. He'd be in good company there.

2. In the end, the ratings might do him in
I don't think CNN cares a whit about being perceived with a bias, but money and ratings talk.

5. I'm not sure CNN gives a rats ass
Remember it was CNN who gave uber loony Glenn Beck his first exposure on cable, before faux stole lured him away with big bucks and made him their main attraction. And as bad as Dobbs is he could never even dream of being as insane as Beck.

I always refer to Beck's show as the faux main attraction, or star performer. If "you know who" heard about anyone saying that it would drive him nutz.

7. While I am certainly no CNN apologist, one must keep in mind that while, yes, they did give Beck his
first shot at a TV show, they also did not renew that contract when he proved what a whackadoodle he is.

Just sayin'.

6. Dobbs got too Fauxy. It is the goal of the corp-media to allow Faux do the dirty work,
while they merely echo it in a seemingly "non-biased" manner. Dobbs got too Faux-like, kinda like Glen Beck. Wouldn't be surprised to see Dobbs move to Faux News soon.

8. He's damaged their brand. Wonder what they'll do about it. "The Most Trusted Name in News"
can't go around giving air time to legitimizing looney tune conspiracy theories that have even been soundly rejected by the likes of Coulter, O'Reilley and Rivera.

Frankly, by engaging this story, Lou Dobbs not only looks like her has an agenda...it also kind of makes him look like he's losing his faculties.
