Is anyone else buying this ridiculous "insulation" argument?
Last night several talking heads proclaimed that * is now insulated against questions of his TANG service because of CBS's use of the questionable documents.

I just don't buy it.

Hell, yesterday the Air Force Times ran a story about it, focusing on the year he disappeared.

As did the New York Times.

People are still talking about it. And the White House is still lying and stone walling.

I think it's silly to discount the charges and content of the documents.

7. Very good article.
These military papers and magazines are better examples of real journalism than almost any of their civilian counterparts. Why should that be so? Why isn't any "mainstream" media picking up on this "the information is true" line? Why do I even ask...

12. Thank you for this link, NYFM!
"There is no record of Bush ever having signed on with a Massachusetts Reserve unit. In 1999, Dan Bartlett, working for the Bush campaign, told The Washington Post that Bush had completed his six-year commitment with a Boston unit. That didn’t happen, Bartlett recently told The Boston Globe. “I must have misspoke,” he said. The following March, Bush was redesignated as an “executive support officer.” In May, he was placed on inactive status. On Nov. 21 — apparently at Bush’s written request, according to an undated letter sent from Massachusetts and released by the White House in which he requests “to discharge from the standby reserve” — he received an honorable discharge “from all appointments in the United States Air Force.”

Did barlett misspeak or was he lying?

If these were Kerry's records..the media would get to the bottom of the great mystery..but since they're bush's ..the mainstream, treasonist, media is content to let it lie.

I hope CBS can find out something!

16. and yet, there was this crazy, wild-eyed woman on Larry King last nite
who appeared with Al Franken, who kept yelling that Kerry hasn't released all of his records, whereas * has.

If * has released everything, why are documents still trickling out?

8. Either way, Bush's record has been tarnished in the eyes...
...of the TEEvee voter. Some of this has stuck, especially considering some of the recent modified appeals made for his support, ie. more references to things like 'even if...indiscretions of his past.." etc.. that are being floated more and more often.

Going negative works. Keep it up!

"insulated" because the swiftboats liars were proven liars and Kerry's medals were properly awarded by our US Navy?

10. I don't either and the Dems should push for hearings on this
Edited on Wed Sep-22-04 09:21 AM by Carni
CBS is the one that screwed up...not the Kerry campaign.

Since WHEN is it illegal to call the campaign of a candidate with potential info, advice, or a complaint?

So Burkett called Lockhart? So what?

Did the Kerry campaign make an ad featuring the suspect memos? No.

The freerepublic slobs are all in a tither wanting this prosecuted as a crime and I say bring it...hold hearings and let's find out who forged the memos or if the memos are real.

Let's make bush provide proof that he was there and that this was really a "smear" and these memos were really fake.

Just the fact that the press is stating that this dog won't hunt makes me think that it WILL!

14. Of course it's not true.
The NY Times editorial had it right: Everyone knows strings were pulled to get Bush into and out of the Guard. Case closed.

Bob Somerby has it right too: Just watch the talking heads talk the shit out of the CBS scandal all election season long.
