Military Moms Hit the Road to Elect a New President for their Kids
THE MISSION:
Eight moms and wives of servicemen and guardsmen serving with the military will hit the road and travel across 7 states to share their personal stories of how President Bush’s decisions have impacted their families. These military moms have supported their husbands and sons, bought body armor, received letters, and watched the campaign in Iraq deteriorate while the President continues to mislead the nation about the developments of the war. These moms come from across the United States with family members serving in overseas and the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, but they have all volunteered to give up work and family so that they can speak to American voters about the ‘ground truth’ facing America’s military families.
THE MESSAGE:
These women have a message for George Bush. Mr. President, you haven't been straight with the American people about the war, the economy and national security.
These moms are sharing the ‘ground truth’ with America's voters about the situation of their kids. Military Moms want John Kerry, a Commander-in-Chief who will be straight with the American people and will never send our troops to war with out a plan to win the peace.
"The war in Iraq isn't about statistics. It's about people. I wanted to join the tour because I want to let Americans know we have been lied to about Iraq. About the rationale, about the costs, and about our preparedness… The White House doesn’t want to talk about Iraq…but we do. And we will.” Nita Martin, Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserves Mom, Pennsylvania
The event will kick-off in on in West Virginia and Missouri on Tuesday, September 21. Two caravans will spread across the United States, visiting 34 cities. The moms will be met by congressional members, local politicians, veterans, and other military families along their trip. They will attend local events and rallies, including state fairs, Kerry-Edwards house meetings, and military family roundtables.
“My soldier son Daniel has taught me to take action and to stand up for what I believe in. I am joining with other moms and volunteering because I want to tell people I trust John Kerry. As President, John Kerry will lead our brave military men and women with courage and integrity.” Pat Heineman, National Guard Mom, Virginia
