Chris Matthews attacks Jim Dean on the ad about Ben Nelson.
Edited on Fri Aug-07-09 09:32 PM by madfloridian
Chris is doing the bidding of the White House on this issue. I never watch his show anymore, but I ran across this video of his attacks on Jim Dean.

I thought Jim retained his dignity, spoke well for us, and made it clear this is a legitimate dialogue between party factions.

Quite frankly I was stunned to see Chris Matthews do this. It was sickening. Kudos to Jim Dean for remaining classy and holding his own against a nasty attack.

Video:

Jim said this is about civic engagement. Chris was rude as hell.

Here is the ad that made Chris Matthews spit and drool and make himself look foolish.

1. Chris kept pushing Rahm's name and saying he hated Jim's brother.
He sounded like a little pouty child.

That interview brought out every angry feeling I have had toward Rahm since he became the party's #2 leader.

2. hate it when Chris gets in his head 1 question/thought & won't let it go until he feels he's 'won'
so childish. yes, the ad is tough on Nelson, but it's honest politics at work - they're asking him how can he not support what they're wanting, and pointing out, well, maybe THIS is why? it makes the politician have to answer, and if it's an honest and solid answer their ads mean squat - but I think we KNOW what it means about Nelson

4. I swear Tweety is schizo.
Just yesterday he chewed the head off a RW anti-reform nutjob and today, this.

The phoniness of it all just makes me sick. :puke:

8. Yes, it is phony. I read posts here sounding like he has changed..
but he is the same old Chris he used to be...one day yelling at one side, the next day attacking the others.

6. No, I said so in the OP
But today in attacking Jim Dean on the very same topic that Rahm just told progressives to f*** off about.....yes he is doing the bidding of Rahm in this video.

There was no need to single out the very person Rahm was attacking on the progressive side.

9. Chris acted like a Jerk.
As for some of your other statements. These people are quoting Emmanuel from Politico's own ideas not direct quotes. I'd rather listen to the President. The President said it once and several times that there will be a viable Public Option or he won't sign it. So for you to say that Tweety is pushing the meme of the White House is utter crap----especially since Politico is known for misconstruing information and/or for out right lies.

10. What I've noticed about Tweety
is regardless of who he has on, he interrupts and talks over EVERYONE. And the post about getting stuck on one question or one idea is right on - he's like an untrained puppy who craves attention pulling on your pants leg.

11. Here is more on Rahm's words to progressive about the ads...
from Greg Sergeant's Plum Line

http://theplumline.whorunsgov.com/health-care/rahm-slammed-dems-attacking-other-dems-as-f-king-stupid-sources-say/

"The Politico’s Jonathan Martin reported this morning that Rahm Emanuel warned leaders of liberal groups in a private meeting this week that it was time to stop running ads attacking Blue Dog and “centrist” Dems on health care.

I’m told, however, that Emanuel went quite a bit further than this.

Sources at the meeting tell me that Emanuel really teed off on the Dem-versus-Dem attacks, calling them “f–king stupid.” This was a direct attack on some of the attendees in the room, who are running ads against Dems right now."

Apparently according to others there, not just Politico...Rahm went sort of ballistic on those running the ads.

So it is quite fair for me to say Chris is doing the bidding of Rahm in this case.

14. I've Never Seen Matthews Worse. Ever.

Angry, rude, not letting Dean get a word in edgewise. What a mindless, agenda-driven prick.

I have no standing to apologize to Jim Dean about the way he was treated, but that's what I feel like doing. Dean's even-tempered response was way more than that asshole Matthews deserved.....

I was very proud of Jim Dean for remaining calm in the face of such mindless attacks.

19. I think Dean would have been better served
by a direct answer like, "Yes, that's what we're saying in the ad," or "It certainly seems that way, yes." Not defending Matthews, mind you.
