I'm scared to DEATH of the debates!!
How is Kerry going to get through these damned things without a MASSIVE dip in the polls? Kerry might actually have a chance at this thing if we didn't have to sit back and watch Bush eviscerate him in 3 STINKING DEBATES!!! DAMN THEM! DAMN THEM TO HELLLLLLL!!!!!!

3. I'm dreading it too.
Bush is so articulate and eloquent. That dude from New England doesn't stand a chance. I probably won't watch.:scared:

14. You are joking?
I thought Bush can only talk if he reads from a script? His last press conference with open questions was almost grotesque.

16. Yes, I AM joking.
So is Mcgorth. That fact seems to have been lost on a few of the people who responded in this thread.

4. Bush is a Masterful Debater; It's His Folksy Charm, His Mastery of the
issues and of course his steadfast faith and confidence. Kerry is definitely the underdog in the debates against someone as skilled and likeable as Bush. He better be careful because he certainly has his work cut out for him!

8. "Masterful debator" I'd love to hear bush mangle this in a speech
"I'm a masterful debator" can turn into "I'm a masturbater" quickly in bushspeak.

22. And don't forget
his masterful command of the English language. The town hall style debate will be particularly devastating, since Bush is so able to articulate his position off the cuff the way he does.

5. I'm scared too
I was listening to a CBC pundit who said that the less intelligent person usually wins. :eyes: I think that's true to some extent. I also think Kerry knows this and will be ready.

6. Kerry has NEVER lost a debate.
He was a champion orator at Yale. The American people will have a chance to look at the two side-by-side, and the best guy will win. New calm down.

7. I know!
To hear Kerry speak it sounds as though he didn't have much formal schooling. * sounds so intelectual, doesn't he? So articulate, so masterful. I hope a lot of people don't watch!

9. Me TOO!
I am terrified. I mean, I've heard Bush speak in his rallies and everyone who signs loyalty oaths just claps and claps. Last night Kerry addressed a packed out TD Waterhouse - thousands upon thousands of people... and I compared the two... Bush and his hundred against Kerry and his thousands, and it scares me to think that those two will have to face off soon. Eeek! I mean, EEK!!!

10. Oh, Ye of little faith !!! . . . . .
I keep hearing what a great debater Bush is, but have yet to hear him complete an articulate sentence that isn't written down and thoroughly rehearsed. He even screws that up! This is another of those things, like the ever present polls, that we all need to quit worrying about and GET TO WORK!!! Get out there and REGISTER DEMOCRATIC VOTERS AND GET THEM TO THE POLLS!!!

12. Bush is a GENIUS!
Not only will he outwit Kerry in the debates, he will beat him at Jeopardy and Trivial Pursuit. This whole past four years, in fact Bush's whole life, have been a clever PLOY to trick Kerry into thinking he could win the debates. Bush has just been PLAYING DUMB this whole time to trick Kerry!

17. Why oh why did we ask for three instead of letting there be two?
What if that whole ordeal was reverse psychology, to make us appear like we're not afraid. Well, this goes to show that you should be careful what you wish for.

Especially because the town hall format will probably be where Bush* excels even more! :scared:

26. Bush couldn't be seated
His generative organ is so large that he'd have to drape it over his leg if they debated in seated posture. When he stands, he can flow it within one of his pant legs, which is more discrete.

21. What makes me mad is there will be no time for me to have a Beer with Bush
Edited on Wed Sep-22-04 12:49 PM by emulatorloo
because of the debate.

I was pretty sure he would come to my Barbeque on September 30th. But now this debate thing messes up my plan.

I had really been looking forwared to having a Beer with GWB at my Barbeque.

23. He should concede now
I'm bored with this election, aren't you? It is a charade of a farce of a travesty of a sham of a mockery of a carnival freak show.

Besides, no one is paying attention or is the slightest bit interested.

Not that any one is going to bother watching these stupid "debates".

Kerry should just humbly concede, beg forgiveness for his shamelessness and effrontery, and offer to lead the battle charge into Iran himself, bearing a banner with the Bush coat of arms on it.

24. I am nervous too
Although when I saw Kerry in the debates with the other Democratic candidates, I was usually pretty impressed. There were times when I was watching with fellow Dean people and had to suppress a cheer at things Kerry said...but this is a different situation and a different audience, so I am not sure how he will do, and I am nervous. I am afraid that if he kick's Bush's as$, the press will portray him as a know-it-all the way they did to Gore. Excuse him for knowing what he's talking about...that must make someone too out of touch to be president!

25. Will Bush maintain his tradition of debate victory?
We are told Bush has never lost a debate-as Gov. or a Prez. candidate.

Bush is certainly expected to win this one too- unless Kerry can really shine on a few points.

27. I think, all it will take is a few
questions asked to Bush by Kerry that will throw him off guard enough to make him look stupid..

Like...

45% of the deficit is from YOUR tax cuts to the rich...

35% is from the Iraq war..

How do you plan to cut the deficit with these numbers staring you in the face?
