Did anyone notice the backhanded compliments Kerry rec'd
from CNN types for his magnificent speech today? John King, Jay Carney and Adam Clymer (I think) in their own snarky way had to admit it was a strong speech ("for Kerry"). I just hope he keeps it up -- and continues to draw out the daily horrors as evidence.

I think we're about to watch him become that amazing teller of truth (about the Iraq quagmire) that he was as a young man - warning the nation about the horrors of Vietnam - before he puts down the Dim Son *.

This and the Zogby Battleground Poll is confirmation that we have been in pretty good despite a horrific August from the despicable Swift Liars and the Hate Fest in New York. In the truly independent polls (Zogby, Rasmussen, Investor's Business Daily, Pew, Christian Science Monitor and Harris), the race is either tied or within the margin of error. We are probably 2 to 4 points behind nationally, and holding our own in the battleground states.

My fellow Americans, we will win this race. John ('Mr. October) Kerry is ascending and will peak at just the right time.

1. On this seemingly dark day
it would seem fitting that Kerry would begin his much-vaunted close.

I also saw some of young Kerry today, and despite what cable opinion has to say, that John Kerry will connect with America.

2. Iraq will not be a good issue for Kerry.
He made too many ill advised comments in the primary campaign and since. The Repugs will resurrect each and every one of them. Kerry will look like a political opportunist, not a consistent critic. At best it's a wash between the Kerry and the Chimperor on the war, in spite of it being an absolute disaster.

Kerry made this bed. Now we'll have to sleep in it.

5. Could you please cite
the 'ill advised comments' you are referring to?

Thank you.

7. What's the difference
The spin will be put on anything he says.

And for those who know his true stance, he hasn't been inconsistent at all.

What I don't understand is how Kerry is supposed to have said "nothing new" and yet others are saying that he's changing his position depending on who he's talking to. Either it's the same old thing or it's that creature of legend, the flip/flop. If it's nothing new, that makes him consistent, doesn't it?

Eh whatever. Let Kerry be Kerry. If the undecideds were listening to the pundits, they wouldn't still be undecideds now would they.

8. running for president in a time of war
remember the time. remember our troups in harms way. even now it is prudent to be cautious in what he says. but gathering support from the countries around iraq, securing the boarders, understanding iraqi culture and tradition, ADMITTING the invasion was imoral, come on. imagine being in the military on the ground over there 18 months ago. i believe john kerry has the greater good as a compass

4. I was a little shocked (but pleased)
to hear John Kerry say that Saddam Hussein "deserves his own special place in hell."
