1. Of course Bush agreed to the "town hall."
Lowering expectations, once again.

His handlers say Bush is worried about the composition of the audience because of the chances of slipping in an anti-Bush partisan.

The reality is that GALLUP selects the participants. Bush has NOTHING to worry about.

He will WIN the second debate. HANDILY. The fix is already in.

4. "Yes, Mr. President. I don't really have a question..."
"...I just want to thank you for catching Osama Bin Laden. You've made me feel safe again."

3. I just hope that Kerry doesn't make a complete fool of himself in these
debates. Bush surely will wipe the floor with him.

Make sure the mainstream media hear this.

6. He destroyed Al Gore! Kerry enters these debates as a huge underdog.
Bush is a dangerous debater, and if Kerry manages to hold his own it should be considered a victory.

12. oh my goodness! our john kerry is in a debate with a fearsome debater
like bush?

damn. much as i want john kerry to win, i can't believe he even agreed to a debate with bush. bush is known far and wide for kicking the crap out of anyone he debates.

i'm going to have to email several members of the media about this.

9. the fact that they/he agreed to all 3 debates...
...shows you just how close this election is. If Bush/etc. believed they had a substantial lead, or that the momentum had permanently turned their way, they'd have whittled it down to 2, or even one, debate, and gotten away with it because they could. It's just like a trial - the defense doesn't put the defendant on the stand unless the situation is critical. So they didn't dare try that, with the word "coward" being whispered and even spoken aloud these days. The didn't DARE. That's a great sign, and is the best indication I've seen that Bush, inspite of what the polls or pundits are telling us, is in trouble.

10. YaY!
I'm so happy they got all three! I'm also concerned about the details, though. I don't want any of those "advance questions" either and I want Kerry to be able to go at Bush directly, too.

11. This is what I would LOVE to see in a town hall style debate...
Since the questions for bush* will probably provided in advance, the person who gets to ask bush* a question reaches into his/her pocket and pulls out a list of questions he/she has prepared in advance.

14. Someone mentioned town hall packing
as a ploy the GOP already has in place. You are right they would not have risked this even then but they must try everything.

Just once could the Democrats get back to the gaming edge that Kennedy had in the first TV debates? That doesn't mean the positive things of appearance, soundbites etc. It means destroying the Bush advantages esecpailly the crooked ones. Uttterly derailing even one should do very nicely.

Jam the earplug feed?

15. well, lookit the moderators they got, if they're the same:
Edited on Mon Sep-20-04 05:56 PM by buycitgo
the same AHOLE who handed Bush all the softballs four years ago

another AHole, who Kerry accused of working for the Bush campaign

that vile, smirking condi pal, who never ceases to take pleasure in putting Kerry in the worst possible light

and the BROTHER of a Bush business partner; somebody who's played GOLF with the chimp

THAT sounds real fair

how can Kerry have agreed to all FOUR of those jerks?

I know the pugs made lying sounds about not being happy about these choices, but you KNOW they have to be very happy, especially about Lehrer, seeing as how he moderated the debates that chimpo "won" four years ago

that has to be a good thing for them
