Do you have any friends or relatives in a nursing home?
My aunt is in one. There was a car show there several weeks ago and I saw an anti-gay-marriage booth there.

I wouldn't be surprised if bushminions get some nursing home residents to get absentee ballots and then guide them to the 'correct' vote.

Given the number of Alzheimer's patients in our nursing homes, this wouldn't be difficult.

Also, 'old-fashioned religion' is strong at many homes.

You might want to check these things out on your next visit to the home. Or, just ask on the phone.

1. This is a common practice in Youngstown, Ohio
Hell, one of our county commissioners OWNS several nursing homes, and guess how those wards voted!?!?!

3. I am doing a voter registration drive in a retirement home.
Just booked it. I know the home organizer, she assured me that these seniors hate Bush. I will not tell them how to vote or do anything illegal, but you know I will be driving them to the polls on election day!

My advice, if you have any friends or family in a nursing home and you know they will vote dem, check their registration on your local board of elections website, make sure they are registered. Then make sure they get to the polls on election day, or get their application for an absentee ballot in.

4. I understand your anger.
But I have no need to do any such thing at the home where my grandmother is cared for. I don't care what they do with their money or time, or how they ask their residents to fill their time, as long as the residents have a choice -- which, among those who are capable of making a choice, they do.

If I were to find that her home engaged in political activities against what I believe in, I would do nothing. Why?

1. Because my grandmother's politics were completely opposed to everything I believe in.

2. Because I am not going to find a better home for her anywhere.
