CNN's Bill Schneider: Al Qaeda wants Kerry to win
CNN's Schneider claimed: "Osama bin Laden, the Al Qaeda network ... would very much like to defeat President Bush" in upcoming election

CNN senior political analyst and American Enterprise Institute resident fellow Bill Schneider claimed that Osama bin Laden and his Al Qaeda terrorist network "would very much like to defeat President Bush" in November's presidential election. He then revived the much-repeated myth that terrorists determined the outcome of Spain's March election, saying: "But the question is: Can they pull off the same trick that they pulled off in Spain?"

When asked to comment on House Speaker Dennis Hastert's (R-IL) September 18 remark that the terrorists would prefer a Senator John Kerry presidency, Schneider echoed Hastert's sentiment.

From the September 19 edition of CNN Live Sunday:

SCHNEIDER: Well, I can guarantee you, they don't like George Bush. Do they think there's a difference? I think Osama bin Laden, the Al Qaeda network, who I am certain follow American politics, look at the messages coming out on their tapes. They seem to follow politics very closely. They would very much like to defeat President Bush. But the question is: Can they pull off the same trick that they pulled off in Spain? What Dennis Hastert said is, "They'd better not try that. It won't work here." And my guess is, he's right about that.

As Media Matters for America has noted, while little evidence exists suggesting that Al Qaeda has a preference regarding the upcoming presidential election, Reuters reported in March that a letter from an Egyptian group claiming a link to Al Qaeda stated that group supports President George W. Bush's reelection. Moreover, as MMFA has also explained (on July 15 and August 5), the assumption that terrorists sought successfully to bring about the defeat of Spanish Prime Minister José María Aznar, a supporter of Bush and the Iraq war, is highly questionable.

1. Actually, Osama would like nothing better than
to have Bush as Pesident. Look what he did for their membership.

It used to be said that if Hitler had been successful, he would have kept a few Jews alive in order to have someone to blame. Osama would have to work up a whole new diatribe against Kerry and speechwriters being as ornery as they are...well, yo never know.

Screw Dollar Bill Schneider and the rest of those CNN fascists. We're getting tired of their thought style.

3. This spin is CRAP Osama bin Laden smiles every time * kills a baby
The shrub has increased Al Quada membership from 6,000 to 18,000 in only 3 years. He also blocked investigation into terrorist funding in Saudi Arabia. The terrorists are terrified that a real military commander will focus on the terrorist and knock the BS Empire building in Iraq off. Read it and weep NeoCons.

7. I think it is time we all call/write CNN and say they are off our list
of news stations but before we turn them off we are writing down every one of their advertizers so we can be sure to not purchase any of their products. It will get their attention if they get thousands of such emails.

that any idiot with a microphone can spout out about Al Qaeda and the future like they're some kind of expert.

What a load of horseshit. Al Qaeda is what we call EVERY terrorist organization on the planet, whether they are or not. Al Qaeda is our bogeyman, artfully crafted and handed to us by the media and this administration.

There has ALWAYS been terrorism, throughout all of recorded history. Terrorists didn't just appear in 2001, and we're a bunch of stupid sheep to allow this crap to continue. Yes there is such a thing as al Qaeda, but if they were so all freaking mighty powerful, we would have buildings dropping all the time. The fact of the matter is that the "threat" of al qaeda is no different today than it was ten years ago, the only difference being that Bush has proven that he was incapable of handling terror when the world trade center dropped on his watch.

Al Qaeda DOES NOT SET public policy. Period. There is no "hotline" from al Qaeda to these manipulative idiots.

Edited on Mon Sep-20-04 03:03 PM by KCabotDullesMarxIII
I love the way Schneider, like an avuncular old Father Christmas, wheedles round his audience, as if they were pre-school children. "And guess what (kiddies).... you'd think blah blah, but this is not the case.... Because blah, blah. Wheedle, wheedle.
And, that's a surprise isn't it?"

Well it might have been, Bill, except that we know what a shameless neo-con shill you are, you old charlatan!
