They put it up extra fast today. They know how important this speech is.

Tell everyone to see this to understand John Kerry and his position!

2. Dialup can stream it, too. It just looks bad. Sound is decent, though.
Gotta hear this one.

4. Not too bad so far,
but he needs to correct his math: "In March, insurgents attacked our forces 700 times. In August, they attacked 2,700 times – a 400% increase."

That's actually slightly less than a 300% increase: A 100% increase would be a doubling of the number; i.e., 1400. 200% would be 2100, and a 300% increase would be 2800.

I hate to be a stickler, but....

6. On the other hand, we have a winner!
"Two years ago, Congress was right to give the President the authority to use force to hold Saddam Hussein accountable. This President… any President… would have needed the threat of force to act effectively. This President misused that authority."

5. Kerry found a GREAT speech writer!
I don't know who wrote this one, but whoever it was, they did a great job! I just listened to it, and it was by far one of his best speeches. I don't think it's any different from his previous statements and ideas, but it was sure put together a lot better!

7. Another winner:
"This is stubborn incompetence."

8. And THIS, in a nutshell is why I am for Kerry:
"After insulting allies and shredding alliances, this President may not have the trust and confidence to bring others to our side in Iraq. But we cannot hope to succeed unless we rebuild and lead strong alliances so that other nations share the burden with us."

9. I noticed toward the end...
Edited on Mon Sep-20-04 01:50 PM by Paul_H
...that throughout the speech, Kerry guards against Bush "stealing" any of his ideas by the straightforward device of offering his own plan as instructions to Bush: "The President should..."

If Bush acts on any of them, Bush makes himself subordinate to Kerry by following Kerry's orders; very clever phrasing!

10. Also saying it's SO important
that Bush must turn around NOW, not sit around on his butt pretending everything's just wine and roses like he's been doing.
