If you were a moderator of the debates, what questions
would you ask? Do you think we could make a list and send them to Jim Lehrer, Gwen Ifill, Charles Gibson, and Bob Schieffer? I know some that I want to ask Bush:

Will you show the public your honorable discharge papers?

Why didn't you take the physical you were supposed to take?

Why were you suspended from flying?

2. Ya, know, I like that too
but I just can't see the moderators asking that. They might want to like we do, but I don't believe it would happen. :-)

3. Why are you such a shit-stupid PNAC marionette?
How do you sleep knowing you have plans to send America's youth into a newcular furnace?

How does giving a foreign worker a job at the expense of an American worker while the CEO pockets the savings instead of creating better jobs help America's economy?

Why do you hate science?

Why are you a ball-gagged sheikdom biznatch?

Do you have ANY idea what you're doing at ALL??

8. I would want to ask both of them (bush first, of course)
the following two-part question:

"What are the greatest lessons you learned from your military service?" and let him answer (squirm), before going on to ask,

"How do those lessons learned affect your foreign and national security policies?"

9. Debate Question
I would ask him why the administration has completely forgotten about Usama Bin Laden. And then I would ask why he opposed the creation of the 9-11 commission.

11. "Mr. President,...
Edited on Mon Sep-20-04 11:40 AM by drbtg1
...during your presidency, a recession started, it was not inherited as Gov. Schwarzenegger stated at the Republican National Convention. Your treasury secretary, Paul O'Neill, and your economic adviser, Larry Lindsey, resigned sometime after the 2002 elections.

During your presidency, specifically on May 16, 2002, National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice stated, "I don't think anybody could have predicted that these people would take an airplane and slam it into the World Trade Center, take another one and slam it into the Pentagon; that they would try to use an airplane as a missile, a hijacked airplane as a missile."

This is not true. People did imagine this. The CIA warned about this twelve times in the seven years before 9/11. Even Hollywood imagined this. On March 4, 2001, six months before 9/11, the Fox television network aired the pilot episode of the series "The Lone Gunman" which had as a plotline of hijacking a Boeing 727 (albeit via remote control) and crashing it into the World Trade Center.

In light of Dr. Rice's apparent failure of even acknowledging pre-9/11 warnings a full eight months after 9/11, it makes me wonder what else is escaping the purview of Dr. Rice.

The nation's economy took a downward turn during your administration and two high profile people resigned. The nation experienced it's worst breech of security in it's entire history, but the national security advisor still has a job. Why hasn't Dr. Rice joined the (insert current number here) who have lost their jobs during your administration?"

15. In 2000 you said you were a uniter not a divider. What happened???
Debates should stay away from the 1970's garbage. Nobody wants to hear that stuff.

Other good questions:

You said your tax plan would add 3 million new jobs. What went wrong?

You received a memo on Aug. 6, 2001 entitled "Bin Laden Determined to strike US" and you took no action. Why?

Your critics say you are overly optimistic about the economy and the situation on the ground in Iraq. They call you "Baghdad Bush". What can you tell those critics?

16. To President Bush:
You support a constitutional amendment that would ban same-sex couples from getting married. Why, exactly, are gay couples getting married a "threat to the sancitity of marriage"?

17. Ehh, I would probably rephrase it, or be more direct
Bust would just take that question and spit out some garbage about the bible and "one man one woman". Sure, it shouldn't work, but don't forget that our media is just a bunch of sycophants.

He should be asked about this though.

I might say "President Bush, you have been campaigning for quite some time now on preserving the sanctity of marriage. In fact, you and the Republicans in Congress even tried to pass an amendment to the Constitution that would specifically define marriage as one man and one woman. How exactly does this protect the institution of marriage, and more importantly, do you have any plans to continue protecting marriage by making divorce illegal?"

Maybe that is a bit wordy though.

Anyway, my point is that it would be best to ask him why, if marriage is so sacred to him, is divorce still not only perfectly legal but also readily accessible to anyone who wants it?

Why can Britney Spears get married for an hour or two, but a same sex couple that has been together for ten, fifteen, twenty years not enjoy the same rights?

18. You got it right.
Thank you. And your question wasn't too wordy at all.

I DON'T want him spouting the same bullshit about "activist judges thwarting the will of the people". You made the points I was trying to make.

19. Thanks. And what bothers me most about that "activist judges" BS
is when I see Republicans complain about judges "reviewing laws" and "making interpretations".

Umm, ... isn't that what the judicial branch is for?

If you go around trying to pass unconstitutional laws just because you have a razor-thin majority, then don't be surprised when a court shuts you down. That's their job.

21. I've been thinking about this one.
One of the central values of American liberty is the ability to make decisions for one's self without the interference of the state.

For Kerry: please name one thing that is currently legal under federal law, which you would fight to make illegal to uphold American values, freedom and safety.

For Bush: please name one thing that is currently illegal under federal law that you would fight to make legal for the same ends.

(You can't give the Kerry version to bush--he'll just say "abortion" and play to his base. If Kerry gets Bush's version, well....it would be a softball.)
