Kerry to visit West Palm Beach

<BOCA RATON — Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry is headed to West Palm Beach this week during a campaign swing through five Florida cities.

Kerry will hold a town hall meeting in West Palm Beach on Wednesday.

Word of the campaign stops came as about 500 Democratic volunteers gathered in Boca Raton on Sunday to hear plans for massive phone and street campaigns this fall.

On the Republican side, former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani will likely campaign in West Palm Beach on Wednesday, said county GOP party Chairman Sid Dinerstein.

From his home Sunday, Dinerstein criticized any Democratic strategy to win over undecided voters by invoking the 2000 election.

"Most of us in politics prefer to fight the next battle rather than the last one," said Dinerstein, adding that Republicans also have begun a phone and canvassing campaign.>
